It's been a little while for both, but I remember both being pretty poor. They felt uninspired and not worthy of Arnold's talents.

I'll give you this though: I'd take either of them over Collateral Damage.

What action sub-genre are you referring to exactly? Do you mean action-comedies?

Not even entirely sure what I would call it... Slightly tongue-in-cheek, slightly self-aware blockbuster 65% action 35% comedy. Once in a blue moon you get your True Lies or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and then most of the time you get something quite unmemorable. Rarely or never does the potential ceiling rival The Terminator or The Godfather or Schindler's List.

Regarding Cameron's film and how they rank, I dunno. I'd have to rewatch The Abyss, but I'm not sure that I feel like The Abyss is a better film than True Lies. Been a while since I saw it, though.

Eh, you know what I mean. True Lies is really good, but not an all time classic 10/10 movie like Cameron usually makes. It's more like 7/10 for me.

And imo The Abyss is a helluva lot better than True Lies. The Abyss is seriously underrated.
