I'm serious about the Tricare thing too? some branches, and then units may allow an elective surgery once a year (say removing loose skin, from losing weight. Or PKS for the eye correction), but you can't just get a nosejob, calf implants, etc.... just b/c you don't feel right.....

sorry if I'm not too educated on this, but I don't see how this is much different from say Bulemia/Anorexia where a person thinks they're fat when they're not.....surgeries for situations like that shouldn't be covered by the taxpayers IMO

I think the military is inviting trouble by doing this. It's not a good idea to recruit mentally ill people. Their suicide rate is already high.

Will trannies join so they can have their surgery paid for? Is the military going to provide all the counseling needed to hold back the depression and suicidal thoughts. War is hard enough on the normal population.

I swear, for an institution that wastes so much money, pro - military people often refer to costs, as if a few pennies in the grand scheme of things makes a difference. I'd rather people not have incentive to join the military, but money wise, people costs are a drop in the bucket.

Their suicide rate is high because society historically treated them terribly, we also provide counseling for all members of the armed forces as it is.

This is a nonissue for me, if someone is willing to serve their country and can pass the requirements let them. As someone else said its not like there is a surge of transsexuals lining up to serve.
