I think transwomen are that, transwoman. By that account they should be treated more or less on par with biological women. Same with transmen, which no one cares about apparently. So, while they are not biologically that sex, I have no issue de facto categorizing them as such.

Exactly this. I was going to say essentially the same.

The only other thing I was gonna say in this thread is that people who say "transwomen are women" - while I get the rhetorical quality - are doing more harm than good to trans women and "biological" women, as such a statement erases both and adds confusion and IMO makes transpeople a target, makes their experience easier to dismiss.

Some people would rather have the social validation of feeling like a good person than stating an obvious truth. They're cowards masquerading as altruistic people, when the majority of the time they downplay, ignore, blameshift, or attack when the negative aspects of permanently multilating yourself and pumping your body full of hormones are brought to light. Truth is they hate religious people but act exactly like them, sanctimony and all.

On the contrary, by announcing to uphold, very likely, someone ELSES views and morals, they demonize themselves. Now, its finally apparent that this actually COSTS to oblige them vs. simply leave it alone, companies losing money is likely. Therefore, being a cheerleader for this shit isnt going to be invited to parties.

Im actually exciting about this next full swing in the other direction. I hope it doesnt disappoint.

Regardless of where one falls on the issue of whether to treat transgendered people with respect, this comment reflects a really wrong understanding of science. "I don't wanna cawl a transgender what they wanna be cawled" isn't a scientific position. If someone said that a transwoman was genetically identical to a ciswoman, that would be wrong, but no one actually says stuff like that. The whole thing is just a deliberate misunderstanding, which is a dishonest way of discussing something.

Genetics isn't really relevant to me. What matters is the degree to which the process of differentiation into a male occurred. I agree that these people are an interesting case. Calling them an intermediate would be most accurate, but it is pretty grey (calling them male would be the least accurate). There are some people who are going to be difficult to categorize.

Agreed. It wouldn’t be that way if the people at the top political positions would just stop saying “trans women are women”. They could just say “Men who want to be called women”.
