Up here in the Great White North I've met seven trans in the military since I joined a loooonnnnggggg time ago. Four male to female, three female to male. It's important to remember that "trans" doesn't just refer to male to female types, although those are the ones that get the most focus in the media. The females to males were actually pretty solid mentally; they do their jobs, work hard, endure the not hazing but still hazing that comes in the combat arms, and overall get along with everyone else reasonably well. They're not better or worse than straight men and women or vanilla gay men and women, they're just the same.

The men to women, on the other hand... whooo man, you wanna talk about administrative burdens?!?! Everything from being put on suicide watch multiple times to harassment complaints against ANYONE that criticizes their work to brutal public mental breakdowns.

This is a small sample size I admit, but there's something about the male to female trans folk that just has not mixed with the harsh reality of military service in my experience. Take from that what you will.

One thing that's very noticeable about conservatives, and specifically bigoted ones, is they act like all of society is some kind of luscious dessert where if a new group gets any, that somehow means that they themselves are getting less. Now I click on this thread and there is literally a dingbat suggesting that there's a such thing as "trans privilege." This is a plague of hierarchical thinking. These people cannot merely exist, and merely be visible. No no no, they're trying to get ahead of us!! They want what we have!! It reminds me of the character Danny revealing what he REALLY hates:

What does that really mean? He cant be talking about just white kids because white kids arent black. They can never be black. And what does "these days" mean? It means he would prefer to live in days where its NOT cool to be black.

Now replace "black" with "trans" and you have the stupid argument being made that people are becoming trans to "get ahead" just because there is a measurable effort among society to be nicer to them, which somehow means the bigot is missing out on something.

To be fair. I hold conservative values, live right outside portland. While I see probably a statistically higher number of trans due to geographic location. They sure the fuck don't effect my day to day operations. Great thing about America. At least for now, we still have the right of choice in life decisions.

Because sex and race are the same thing, right? Trans people aren't fighting for equal rights. They already have them. They're fighting for special privileges, like letting men into women's spaces, for merely "identifying" as a woman.

There is no comparison to be made. You may as well be arguing for people to have the right to identify as any age, and be included in children's spaces and treated as children.
