Hmm. Yeah I guess writing some words phonetically is writing in an accent. For me the issue was more that some of the chapters used Scots dialogue, so I had to keep checking the glossary.

I'm not sure how close they are following Porno (from the trailer it looks like not very much), but in the book after a horrible partying binge, Renton quits drugs and partying.
He starts to get heavy into weight lifting and exercise and even takes up shotokan karate. There'a a part where Renton talks about how fat Sick Boy has gotten and Sick Boy says, "You got fat, too", but it's actually all muscle.

I don't think it is which sucks. Because Porno was an incredible sequel to Trainspotting. Irvine Welsh is a dark fucking author lol

Has anyone else read the book porno? Not as good as trainspotting but still a really good one
I read it after I heard this movie was coming out and enjoyed it a lot. The characters are so fucking relatable, especially sickboy and renton (dunno about begbie, I dont hang around psychos)
Also it was funny to see how everyone except poor spud had given up heroin (sickboy snorted coke all the fucking time andd renton did e and coke sometimes)

Did you ever see the deleted scenes? Sickboy turns up at the bus station with two hoes he's pimping out and Begbie screams at him to hurry up... And on the way there they walk straight past Swannie their now one-legged dealer who had it amputated because he hit the wrong vein.
The book is even more fucked up... Porno is shit. "Trainspotting" was a compilation of true life stories from Irvine Welsh's life, "Porno" was more of a "What If" and it was rubbish... Immactually glad that it looks like they went a different direction.
I didnt read trainspotting but i expect this T2 to be better and way funnier than T1.

Porno wasn't rubbish but i can tell not nearly as hardcore as trainspotting. I can't really debate your claim as i only read the one but i enjoyed it.
