Training of Pauli Malignaggi

Paul is slick and skilled, but couldn't crack an egg.

slick in his last few fights he seemed decidedly hittable to me, not like a punching bag; but much moreso than any "slick" fighter i can think of, esp when fighting 2nd or 3rd tier competition.

LOL! Yeah I get a kick out of that. You should watch his documentary - it makes it look like the fight with Cotto was actually close or something

Still, he did stagger Cotto and went the distance - gotta give major props when he's at his best

N'Dou and N'Godjou are hardly second-tier. N'Dou is all pressure and is usually one of the only guys who survives full Camps with Floyd, and N'Godjou arguably has wins over both Castillo and Paul.

i dont consider them 1st tier fighters, not saying they are cans or gatekeepers; but i PERSONALLY don't consider them first tier, then again i don't consider paulie slick either. I see a fast guy..a quick guy; but tech/def slick, nope don't see it at all...

not attacking ur base of knowledge or eye for boxing; but im just saying i don't see it, i can think of numerous guys who have shown better def, an some of them aren't considered contenders or champs.

i personally have seen better examples of slickness from emmanuel augustus is slicker and trickier def, junior witter are better examples of slick fighters; too many viable contenders fists find paulies chin and body for me to consider him slick. an yeah he showed slickness against 3rd rate competition and inexperienced prospects; but as his level of comp has increased his slickness has seemed to decrease just as drastically. if your truly slick fast tough durable ko puncher etc; then u do it against the best, not just the rest, paulie isn't even doing it against the rest. Hatton would run him over, bradley puts him away, lacazano would have beat him the f*ck up and if judah dropped back down he would kill him.

no offense-just my imo

It's gotta be his speed. I bet he can do a 1-2-3 in under one second. :D

Why do you keep saying no offense and you don't mean this and that? Really, it's just an opinion, you're not hurting any feelings.

However, I do think you got a little animosity going on here.

Better stuff by people who aren't Contenders or Champs? That's reaching.

And I disagree his slickness has decreased "drastically" as you put it. Especially because to say that you put down guys like N'Dou and N'Godjou. However, you name Junior Witter as a better example of a slick Fighter? Timothy Bradley might be a good Fighter, but the credibility of N'Dou and N'Godjou he just doesn't have, sorry. Oh and not to mention, Witter barely squeaked by N'Dou himself, and never did re-match him. Paul handled N'Dou with relative ease in the first fight, despite having a harder time in the second. If Witter struggled in the first fight (which he did), and N'Dou is the kind of Fighter who comes back stronger (which he is), then it stands to reason that he'd struggle again, too.

Lazcano might have beaten Paulie a couple years ago. But beat him the fuck up? Hilarious considering he doesn't have much punching power either and Cotto's breaking of Paul's face still couldn't put him away. And considering Juan was shot about 3 years ago, from the way Hatton looked against him I don't think he's running over anyone anytime soon, nevermind someone who can get cracked up by Cotto and laugh it off.

So far Paul's only been troubled by one of the more avoided guys in N'Godjou, N'Dou who troubled Witter more, and Cotto. Yeah, he sucks at fighting the best.

its just how i talk-to be honest; you may in fact be right, but its just my opinion as u said.. i just don't see it..it may in fact be my eye for boxing that could be lacking, nonetheless i feel pretty confident in what i see or take from fights.

still you make valid points-but as i have said in may threads the lacazano who fought hatton a few weeks ago would have beaten paulie and herman, imo

I don't think so. Juan didn't do anything special save for not back down from Hatton and punch back. Hatton looked like shit more than Juan looked good. And he's been showing signs of fading. Collazo, then that crap with Urango. Urango was pretty easily out-boxed by Ben-Rabah despite a shit decision.

I'm not saying Paul is a World Beater per se, but when you can have fights where guys like N'Dou and Cherry barely lay a glove on you, there's definitely some slicks there.
