Tracy Smothers dead

Just found out that Tracy Smothers has died from Lymphoma after he was diagnosed the previous November. Just a little refresher for y’all, he was Freddie Joe Floyd for a brief spell in the WWF in the early 90s and then had his best success in ECW as Tracy Smothers as apart of the FBI where he won the ECW Tag titles with Lil Guido.

he was only 58.

I think had Tracy debuted in the mid 70s rather than 80s, he could have been a big southern draw, like a Bob Armstrong. He came along right at the end of the territories and the national expansion of wrestling which didn't quite fit with the hometown, good ole' boy white meat baby face that Tracy portrayed early on.

Without doing too much Googling I can tell you that in the business no one ever has a bad thing to say about Tracy. Hard worker, good fire and a guy that always tried to help the young guys along.

I found his later career heel work absolutely hilarious and spot on. R.I.P.
