The other day I had a crew cleaning out the apartment of a deceased person in a social assistance housing building, and it was a big job as the fella was a big-time hoarder. The guys needed extra hands, so I went down to give them a hand. Worked out well, as I landed about a mixed dozen Atari's, Commodore 64's and 128's, a TRS-80, and a whole hoard of Atari games and manuals.
While doing the job, this really strange old guy, a neighbour of the deceased person was curious about what was going on, and asked if he could have some of the stackable totes and shelves for storing things. I said sure, no problem and he asked if I wanted to go into his apartment so he could show me what he needed it for. Old fella, seemed harmless so I had no worries... but what I saw completely blew my mind.
This building is for seniors who need low-income housing and they are fairly small units. Honest to god, this guy had to have near a quarter of a million dolllars worth of Lego. The entire unit was floor to ceiling virtually completely full save for a single bed, computer desk and small kitchenette. And not the cheap run-of-the-mill shit either. Pretty sure I saw every Star Wars piece ever made (saw both Millenium Falcons, the Death Star and Star Destroyer, Cloud City, Snowspeeder...), Groot, Hogwart's train and castle, Gringott's, the Titanic, the Delorean from BTTF, pretty sure it was Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds, Rivendell, I saw 3 pirate ships, ... there was so much it was hard to actually take it all in. There was literally a 2 foot wide path from the bedroom to the livingroom to the kitchen. This guy had been collecting for decades.
Guaranteed, this guy never had a wife or kids.
Kind of makes you wonder what life would like if you made different choices, lmfao.
