Social Toy Collectors Thread

Not bought anything for a couple of weeks, got some stuff on pre-order from Marvel and Street fighter.

Picked up some old copies of 2000ad yesterday from my dealer (!), as I was down mooching around I spotted a couple of large non emptied bags . Top of the pile in one was a bag of King Conan x 4. Picked those up to be told that there were loads more Conan in there.... read them last night...the rest are being put to one side... it's only money , right ?

The next toys I buy are probably going to be for a puppy.....

Love that Hawkman, but I'm a huge mark for him.

Moonkinght is a cool character, but his look never really translates to good looking figures to me.
I could have bought the Moon Knight cheap yesterday with the Target Circle 25% off and using $16+ of Circle rebate.

There was a time I would have pounced on Moon Knight, especially when I think Stephen Platt(?) drew the covers.

Seems like Amazon has a bunch of D&D movie 6" figures for like $4. I'm guessing they have a ton and no one wants them.

Hawkman is cool. All the Moon Knights seemed to have some dark shadow painted around his chest emblem, really put me off from purchasing.

Anyone have tips/places for GI Joe toys from 80s-90s? Didn't keep much from a kid but did these, favourite toys. Got a few complete and wanted to complete others (places to buy the accessories?) and start collecting. Being in a small country doesnt help.

Ebay, I sold a bunch of 80s GI-Joe's recently on Ebay. I've been selling most of what I saved as a kid. I saw they sell/buy the accessories on there too. I sold a zip-loc bag of accessories for around $200 recently. Just sold 3 Transformers too. I would check Ebay. The shops I went to, to sell my comics tried severely ripping me off. I had a box of 300 comics I wanted to sell. The first shop I went to briefly looked at them and said no thanks. The next shop I went to spent 20 minutes looking at them and came back and offered me $30................said his other worked said $20 but he said he'll do $30. Uh no. I've sold maybe 50 of those 300 on Ebay so far and have made a few hundred. One of the Star Wars ones I think I sold for $80. And this shop owner offered me $30 for all 300. In the box is one of the first Deadpool comics, and he had it on display behind his cash register for $25. Yeah I'll give you all 300 for $30 GTFO <Fedor23>

It's this one here that he had on display behind his cash register, and that I still have in my box. The crazy thing is, if he offered me $300 or close to it I would have taken it just so I didn't have to take them back home but he insulted me with his $30 offer.

Marauder Gunrunners/Task Force sells brand new injection molded and 3D printed accessories. I ordered some swords, assault rifles, sniper rifle (for Metal Gear Solid V as the Brennan). I believe they have the generic Snow Job laser rifle from the cartoon, as well as the pistol Megatron transforms into.

I'd just wait to see what Super7 comes up with soon. I think they recently got the rights to make o-ring GI Joes. I'm guessing original old ones are fragile, so wouldn't want to spend money on something that's about to break.

Did you look into buying the recent Hasbro o-ring releases in either two packs like Stormshadow & Snake Eyes, Duke & Cobra Commander, Cobra Trooper & Officer, or the crossovers with Transformers like Bumblebee as AWE Striker w/Stalker, Megatron as HISS Tank w/Baroness, Soundwave as Thundermachine w/Zartan and Zarana, upcoming Kup as Sgt Slaughter's vehicle w/him and Leatherneck? Hasbro relatively recently also sold HISS Tank in black and another in blue, FANG, AWE Striker, HasLab Skystriker, Stinger for o-ring size, not 4" modern size.

What small country are you in? I listen to GIJoburg podcast and one of the hosts talks about buying old Joes via local Facebook Marketplace cheap from moms getting rid of their son's toys.

I recently saw Best Buy online had the Walmart modern Retro 4" Grunt for lower price than Walmart sold them. Weird because recently it seemed like they purged all their Marvel Legends, GI Joe Classified, Star Wars Black Series, McF DC, but they still had very few figures on the website. I was excited about buying modern 4" Joes, but Hasbro discontinued the line after a half-assed effort. At least I got 4" Destro, Roadblock, Cobra Commander, Cobra Trooper & Officer.

They have to mark it up for a profit, so won't buy for fair market value.

Yeah I get that but I mean even if he would have offered me $300 for 300 comics he could have at least made a grand selling them. I've made probably $400 on Ebay selling around 50 of them.

He did you a favor. I need to sell some of my comics and cards. Need to research how to pack them for shipping to reduce chances of damage, if better to try to sell one issue or consecutive issues.

I use these, I've seen them called "bubble mailers" and I cut a piece of cardboard and slide it in.

@GSP_37 New Zealand. Have joined a FB group but since these toys sold back then when our population was 3 million probably got to rely on a fair bit of importing (did for video games too).

Havent looked outside the original run from 82-94. Is the newer stuff expensive?

@Spounman glad you sold yourself. I know these places need to make profit but ripping people off is scummy, unless they are actually clueless.

One GIJoburg host is in Australia. You may want to start listening to this podcast as well as Full Force which pretty thoroughly covers GI Joe toys and that host is tight with the Hasbro people and lives in the same area as Hasbro and some of their employees.

I forgot to mention, possibly easier to get in the Asia region HIYA Toys Exquisite 4" GI Joe figures for around $19.99 each. So far they made figures that are mostly shrunken down versions of the 6" GI Joe Classified designs. I don't have any since it sounds like they are difficult to buy in USA and kinda expensive. I would like to try at least one. They did Snake Eyes, Stormshadow, Beachhead, Cobra Commander, Baroness, Major Bludd, maybe Destro, Firefly. I'm sure one of the GI Joe fan sites has a complete list. Actually see HIYA's website for list and pics of each. $24.99 each. Didn't see any I wanted.

Did you try checking your region's version of Amazon.com? Maybe Amazon Japan?

Have you considered something like Marauder Task Force to make your own custom Joes? I think they have an upcoming bare torso and I'm hoping to make a custom Quick Kick with it. I already have black pants for it, but no barefeet. I did order a sword since V1 Quick Kick had a sword. I made a Flint, Firefly, Beachhead.

Have you ever heard of JOYIN? Does your area have a Chinatown? Maybe there's a toy store that sells the JOYIN AV-8B Harrier or F/A-18 Hornet in 1/18 scale. The Harrier looks good.

I tried to order Star Wars Black Series Magnaguard, but good thing I couldn't. I saw a youtube review saying it's crap with shoulder pauldron falling off easily and the ankle ratchets awkwardly designed where there's no good default position that allows standing normally just like the TVC Dark Trooper. Lame.
