Topuria Is Deadly

Why do Ilia fans say such off the wall stuff. I am not saying Ilia is bad but he did not have very good head movement in the Herbert fight and has he even gotten a submission in the UFC? Bryce actually did better against him then he did against Jean and Emmet went 5 rounds and hurt him but obviously got really hurt himself.

His hardest fight in the UFC was Herbert who hurt him really bad twice and that was last time Ilia fought at LW.

My point is he is not Tom.. yet so lets wait and see before declaring him "the best pound for pound fighter ever!"
He is constantly evolving and improving and has a high fight IQ. He is getting better each fight. He has the potential to win 3 belts.

Ilia submitted Bryce who was at the time one of the best grappling prospects in the division, admittedly didn't age well but still he was on a massive win streak with tons of momentum which Ilia totally shut down.

He literally destroyed Herbert, got hit with the headkick and lost R1 sure (but did get a solid takedown on Jai which took about a minute to get up from) but after having a little to recooperate in his corner he went on to dominate Jai.

Ilia R2 KO'd the best featherweight to ever live who is known for his striking which Ilia totally destroyed and then Max Holloway in R3 who has never been KO'd before and is a legendary striker.
Study his ground game it is elite but he has not fully displayed it in the UFC>

I fancy Charles to put him in his place tbh. Ilia has tremendous power and boxing but objectively, he's very limited on the feet. He never throws any kicks which is very weird as he gets called the leader of the new breed of super dimensional fighters. Imagine a super dimensional fighter that never uses his feet and has very little reach.

If Charles fights smart, and utilises his kicks a lot, which I think will be part of his game plan, then Ilia will NEED a KO to win the fight because I can see Charles winning every round if he keeps the distance.

Also, I'm not too sold on Ilia on the ground, he may be good, but Charles is lethal and the much more likely to pull a submission there.

We still don't properly know to what extent Ilia's power translates to LW.

A very interesting fight.

You seem to know Ilia’s history well.
Does he have any real wrestling credentials or has he competed in jujitsu on national or Euro level?

Illia may be the best pound for pound fighter ever! I am going out on a limb after studying his fight history. Bottom line is he fights stylistically like a mini Mike Tyson but he also has similar power in his division just like Mike. His defense is also on par. Superior positioning and head movement. Now add to that a guy who reminds me of George St. Pierre with his takedowns but has better submissions. He will defeat Olivera possibly in the first round or second round and he will defeat Islam Makhachev if Islam has the courage to fight him.

He's incredibly talented for sure. He's an elite wrestler, lethal submissions but he's got elite striking too.
People think it's raw power but he's got great technique with his hands.
A lot of people get called well rounded but they're usually great in one area and functional in others. Ilia is lethal.

He definitely has a lot of potential. We will see how this LW experiment goes first.

"George St. Pierre with his takedowns but has better submissions."

I think submitting Bisping and Matt Hughes is sliiiiiightly better than submitting Bryce Mitchell.

Bit of a stretch but he’s on track

Breaking news, yellow belt studied all his fights, determined he's GOAT.

I know I'm convinced.

curious to see how he looks against oliveira

he needs to completely dominate and get a finish in 2 rounds... basically needs a makhachev style performance to keep his hype train going. If he doesnt, then comparisons will be drawn. "oh makhachev beat charles more easily, so ilia isn't that good"

And your point is? Come back here after the fight let's see who is correct.
Hate to break it but you've already lost that challenge.

After that fight he still won't be GOAT. He may well win it, but that =/= him being the best to ever do it...Yet.

And I said literally zero about the fight in question, so your response makes very little sense. I already think he's got a good chance at winning this fight. But that =/= a GOAT conversation.
