It's almost impossible for someone who chases money so much that he pretends to be Conor Mcgregor to not be a horrible human being

How the fuck is he chasing money so much or trying to be like Conor?

What, he's like Conor because he's out there trying to win a belt in two diff divisions? DC done that as well. Was he just trying to be like Conor?

Conor's an asshole who just used to yell over everyone and do stupid shit like throw dolly's at buses. Topuria doesn't do any of that sort of shit.

Topuria's doing amazing things in the octagon, and money is coming as a result of it. He's got businesses and stuff outside of fighting as well. Should he not be doing this stuff so he can just be broke and full of CTE when he retired like 95% of MMA fighters or something?

First we lost Marinovich BJ
Now we lost Climent Ilia

It was fun while it lasted. Expect to see Ilia unconscious outside a bar soon.

I'm neutral on it. Only the coach and fighters know truly about the situation. If Topuria is trying to develop skills that he's not getting with his long time coaches and he feels like he's reached as far as he can go there then yes it's a great idea. For him, I'm thinking the only part of his game to sharpen would be wrestling, maybe his coaches aren't best for that.

However if it's just a money dispute then it's a chance of luck. Flip a coin whether it backfires because he moves to the wrong camp and his routine is uprooted to something unfamiliar that doesn't get him to the place that made him champ.

Even if it's the former it's still a matter of actually finding something that will work well or even better for him. It's easy to THINK something else will be better (greener pastures and all) but shit might not turn out that way in hindsight. What we do know is that the old team got him amazingly far, that's a certainty at least. But yeah, people change, money changes, if they part ways they clearly couldn't be together anymore anyways.

Time will tell for sure. I just think that even hardcore fans really have no idea of the dynamics of their camps or the state it was before this decision was made to really be able to call it a good or bad move. Would be crazy if Topuria has been held back by them and we've only seen him with a bad coach and he only gets better. I do think truly great fighters will shine anywhere they go too.

The two aren’t mutually exclusive, you can quit and be flatlined. And Charles isn’t resilient, I’m sorry but that’s what I see. The fact that he pulled out the victories against Dustin, Gaethje, etc doesn’t disprove that.
well it kinda does.

in the past charles would fold when under pressure or if he didnt dominate. but when he went on his large win streak there were multiple fights that were back and forth and he got rocked/dropped and still won the fight through resilience. there was a big difference with his second stint at light weight compared to his first stint and his time at feather weight. He also applies much more pressure on his opponents from the get go

I do agree that there is a big chance he will lose against Topuria but only because topuria will not back down....has better defense and alot if power. Not sure how Topuria's power will translate to LW but if he can knock out Holloway, it would indicate he can do it to Oliveira as well (no matter what weight class). I think Topuria knocks him out because of skill and power and not because Oliveira will give up easily

There are sad firecrackers going off in Valencia....also sad oranges and paellas

Hey man, if you don't have eyes or ears, that's on you.

Is Ilia Topuria teamless headed into one of the most important fights of his career?

That’s the question many fans are asking after news came out yesterday that the Spanish MMA star was leaving his longtime coaches at Climent Club. The official reason: Topuria’s move from Alicante to Madrid (a four hour drive away) made continuing to work together as in the past impossible.

But worry not, Ilia-Maniacs! Spanish combat sports reporter Alvaro Colmenero gives some more clarification into what that means for Topuria now, and it really doesn’t seem like a massive change is underway for “El Matador’s” bout against Charles Oliveira at UFC 317. In fact, you’ve already seen the new ‘freelance’ Topuria perform as he’s been living in Madrid and working with his modified team since at least the Max Holloway fight.

“For quite some time, Ilia’s work team was formed by his own brother Aleks and Javi Climent (who is not related to the Climent brothers),” Colmenero reported. “Javi Climent (originally a boxing coach and now a striking coach) moved months ago to Madrid to form part of his hard core of technical preparation, something that will continue to be the case ... And he had added Mani Tavanaei and Mathias Ribeiro (prestigious BJJ black belts) to his team.”

“The separation was already tacit, but unofficial.”

“The man who is side by side with Topuria at the beginning of the camp is Jesus Gallo in charge of the physical part in Madrid,” he added. “But we cannot confirm at this moment that Doctor Aldo [Martinez] will not be part of the training camp. We will report in the next few days.”

“Regarding Aldo, I think the work he has done is spectacular, and I do not consider him as a simple executor — he coordinated in person all [of Topuria’s] physical preparation.” Colmenero concluded. “But Jesus Gallo is not a new signing, he really worked for years in the shadows.”

Considering the split is amicable and related to geography and not drama, it sounds like Topuria is still well positioned to fight his best fight come June 28th at UFC 317.

No big deal, he still walks through Charles. Y'all will see.
