If you believe the refs that work UFC main event PPV's are the best refs in the business you are wrong. Dan Miragliotta proved UFC refs are not always the best of the best when it took him what seemed like a lifetime to put a halt to the Pulev vs Mir fight in a hybrid boxing vs MMA match on Triad Combat. If Pulev had rushed Mir when he stumbled into the corner unaware of his surroundings we might have witnessed the first death in Triad Combat due to an incompetent ref. Luckily for Mir, Pulev could see Mir was finished long before UFC ref Dan Miragliotta came out of his coma to stop the fight.

News media from around the world blasted Miragliotta for being so slow at halting the fight. The bottom video shows Pulev waiting for Miragliotta to stop the fight as he walked very slowly over towards Mir before clueless Dan Miragliotta figured out after a couple seconds that Mir's brain was not in the arena at that moment.

You've rustled the jimmies of all the herb Dean haters because they swear a rock could ref better than him

Whoever thought a boxer who just fought Anthony Joshua for his world titles, should fight an old MMA fighter who was never a good boxer, needs to lose their promoters license. Mir had no business fighting anyone. The need for money must be strong!

Ugly otter wasnt to blame, it was more a case of Mir getting himself into something he shouldnt have and the comission allowing it.

Miragliotta was definitely partly to blame. The fight never should have been sanctioned in the first place, but it was. It was his job to stop the fight if one of the fighters wasn't defending himself, and he didn't do that.

Pulev stopped that fight, not Miragliotta.

This is the best response in this thread

Being a combat sport ref is pretty damn subjective and no matter what you do you'll always get flack.

It was late stoppage but the actual problem is commissions allowing stuff like this to happen in the first place - it's like letting Holyfield step in for Oscar against that fool looking for form glory (vitor).

Dan did a good job, although the fight could have been stopped after that zombie punch. But even after that follow up left hook that sent Mir back into the corner, Big Dan was watching pulev the whole time and as soon as Pulev went in, that is when Dan stopped it. Dan was basically giving Mir a chance to recover, which he never did. Plus that punch rung Mir's bell big time, but if it would have been that devastating of a punch like the snowflakes on here say, then Mir would have been unconscious laying on the ground, stiff.

Dana White probably paid Mirgliotta to have someone get serious hurt in a Triller fight
