Either way, it’s kind of a hypodescent situation with Italian blood, where even if you’re just a quarter or a third or whatever, people still consider you Italian. It’s like with black people, except Italians aren’t hated by white people anymore.

Anyway, even though a person may be made up of more of another bloodline, people will always consider them as one of the other heritage, as long as that heritage is considered the “other” in that country. And while Italians are no longer really considered any different than other whites, they were considered very different not so long ago.

James Caan had no Italian blood in him, James Franco plays Fankie & Vincent Martino in the Deuce, he too has no Italian blood in his ancestry.
