Top 5 most famous UFC fighters of all time

I actually ran numbers on this last July up to and including UFC 175. My methodology has changed somewhat since then but this is the top 5 I had. Full list can be found here and feel free to flame me if you like.

GSP
Silva
Rashad
Rampage
Brock

I think with my new methodology, Brock would move up, maybe to 1 or 2 and Chuck would replace Rashad in the top 5. Tito would like replace Rampage in the top 5 as well, so my new top 5 would probably look like this:
Brock
GSP
Chuck
Silva
Tito

I don't think Ronda cracks the list because she doesn't have the longevity yet.

Brock Lesnar
Chuck Liddell
Randy Couture
Jon Jones
Royce Gracie

Chuck Liddell
Tito Ortiz
Brock Lesnar
Rhonda Rousey
GSP

It's really hard to limit it to 5.

From my experiences, living near Toronto...in no specific order,

Royce
Brock
Kimbo (funny, but true)
Chuck
GSP

Agreed with Liddell.

Anderson Silva never became a big star in the US, and not a lot of people outside of MMA know he is, probably due to a number of factors (lack of English being a major one). His biggest PPV buys were against Chael Sonnen, who did the majority (if not all) of the promotional work between the two building up those fights. And even still, Ortiz's biggest fight (as a challenger) outsold Silva's biggest fight (going in as champion):

12/30/2006 UFC 66 Liddell v. Ortiz II 1,050,000
07/07/2012 UFC 148 Silva vs. Sonnen II 925,000

Lmfao yeah, let's ignore the other name in tito's biggest fight. I'm sure that didn't affect sales any. Ppv buys are not a totally reliable means of measurement because many places show events on cable television instead of ppv.

I agree with OP's list except that gsp should be in there instead of randy. Even with the expendables, I've heard multiple people not know randy's name. He'said "the fighter guy" from the expendables.

Everyone on my list has broke a million for the gates.
1. Randy Couture
2. Brock Lesnar
3. Anderson Silva
4. Georges St Pierre
5. Jon Jones

At their respective heights I'd say Brock, Chuck, Ken, Ronda, and either Tito or GSP can't decide. I saw a lot of Coutures listed here but I've been watching 10 years now and can say he was never that huge star.

1-Tito Ortiz
2-Chuck Liddell
3-GSP
4-Matt Hughes
5-Anderson Silva

Many people say Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey. But there is no way they are top 5 all time famous...And I dont care if they were on PPVs that set records, still dont make them m ore famous.

When most people think of Lesnar, you think WWE not UFC. Ronda is famous right now, but she also has media behind her, which helps tremendously. Media can make anyone famous, rich or poor. Look at Paris Hilton or Kardashians...Without media she wouldnt be known like she is. Yes, she is undefeated Champion, but still. Id easily put Royce Gracie, Rampage Jackson or Ken Shamrock over both of them...Pride had Wandy and Fedor, but many people didnt even know what Pride is/was...

I believe the list I made is very accurate. Those fighters are famous without media shoving them down your throat...All the fighters on my list were basically before twitter, hashtag, facebook, UFC on FS1, etc...And anyone who ever even followed UFC for a minute knows everyone of them.

Any list of the top 5 most famous UFC fighters that doesn't include Brock Lesnar is incomplete or inaccurate. He just is.

It's hard to do an all time list, as many people as of right now know some of the present stars. looking back in a few years, maybe many of them would drop off.

My list:

GSP
Chuck Liddell
Kimbo Slice
Randy Couture
Tito Ortiz

Kimbo may have lost a bit of steam though, as his internet sensation died down as well as his UFC career. ask the next generation and they'd probably have no idea who he is, but as of right now he's still very well known.

Are you serious? No one outside of the MMA world has any idea who Big Nog is. . .

Have you been in Brazil when Minotauro walks into a restaurant? Its like the king just walked in

yeah but 200 million dollars went into promoting The A Team

If Brock spent more time in the UFC/MMA I would agree,, he brought fans from another (sport?).. But i dont think he outshines Nog in the most famous UFC fighters.. Hes not much more than a flash in the pan and got tore up his last mtch
