Yeah, I can't believe the consensus is that this is a lay up for Pimblett. Paddy was saved by a bad, bad decision against the likes of...Jared Gordon, I believe.
Jared Gordon is a tough and experienced veteran. He had a 7-4 UFC record against Paddy and had won 4 of his last 5. You have to put these things in context.
Sure, Tony's on a 6 fight skid but those are 6 losses to the cream of the crop.
In that era, Khabib was 'cream of the crop.' Michael Chandler literally has a loosing UFC record, and one of those two wins is because they let him fight a completely shot Tony.
The worst competition was Bobby Green, who is way better than Pimblett.
Based on what? Green has a 10-9-2 UFC record, he is a journeyman that is barely .500. He's the type of guy that gets murder KO'd by Drew Dober and can't go one round with Poirier. He's a fun an interesting fighter, but not elite by any measure.
People love to discredit Nate because he lost to Conor, but there's no shame in losing to Diaz. Nate had the WW king on the ropes ffs
This is just plain stupid. Nate got the ever loving shit beaten out of him by Edwards, which was a fight he didn't earn or deserve. Landing one good punch, which your opponent immediately recovers from, after getting mollywhopped for 23 minutes... come on.
Paddy is nowhere near the level of any of the aforementioned.
I don't see anything to suggest Paddy wouldn't have a similar .500 record against the guys Green fought. To say he's "nowhere near" Green is flat out ridiculous after going 4-0 in the UFC with 3 of those being easy stoppage wins.
Chandler is more athletic but can't beat ranked fighters. He's
moderately better than Paddy over a spread I would guess.
Tony looks like a frail old man because he is. He visibly cringes away from shots and looks like he's walking in slow motion. He has absolutely no business getting licensed to fight in the UFC. Yes he should be an underdog.
