Tony was lucky to never face Khabib

The hindsight-shertards can fuck right off. Tony is past his prime. Yes, Khabib would have taken him down and controlled him, but there is no doubt that in a 5 round fight he would have sliced Khabib's face open with elbows and gotten many submission attempts.
Once Khabib starts bleeding all over the place you don't know how he would have reacted because he never had to. So he might have just kept the fight standing which would have favored prime Tony. All in all I think prime vs prime this would have been a great close fight.
 
Where were those fabled elbows off his back and 'snap jitsu' ? Dude is washed. Khabib runs through him easy.

Hopefully retirement soon as he's taken alot of damage. And he's not the most stable minded person to begin with.
 
He had no clue what to do off his back. It was so bad. Just kept going for silly escape attempts that Oli shut down with complete ease.

Best win was Lee, who dominated Barboza, but I agree with the rest.

Khabib would have absolutely destroyed him.

you cant do those when ur pressed against the cage, that's what tony fans cant understand, when ur facing a fighter with great pressure, u cant ground and pound from bottom.

like he sliced castillo in his prime ?? tony never had the lvl, and this fight showed us again that he doesn't have the technic to defend takedowns or to get out of the cage ( where he cant grapple as he used too )

To paraphrase Khabib's late father, "what can you do with your elbows when they are in side control." Khabib would have never just sat in Tony's guard. Don't want to kick Tony when he's down but the Tony-elbows talk always irked me. Elbows don't work when you're mounted or side-controlled.

If anything Khabib is LUCKY he never faced Charles.

You just watched a fight where Tony got outgrappled yet he still sliced his opponent up with, you guessed it(or actually I don't think you in particular would have guessed it) elbows from defensive positions.

I will answer his late father's question: elbows can be landed by Tony from more positions than just side control. They can be landed while Khabib is trying to take him down, during the spots where he's trying to secure the td's and tons of other defensive positions. In fact that is how he damages most opponents. It is not a coincidence that 9 out of 10 Tony opponents faces look like death afterwards.

It is a pipe dream that Khabib's face won't be damaged in a 25 minute war against prime Tony. I'm not saying that's how he beats him. I'm saying it's a question mark on Khabib that prime Tony exploits.

They really are incredibly annoying. You can't have any conversation about the man that isn't just blindly blowing him, like he was completely flawless and unbeatable. Idol worship which those Dagestani's find abhorent btw.
 
I favour Khabib to have beaten any version of Tony but you cant judge it based on the performances of a guy who is nearly 37 years old and most likely a year or two away from retiring. It should be pretty clear at this point that Tony is on the downslide and not the fighter he once was.

Yeah I don’t think Tony would’ve made it the distance with Khabib. Khabib would’ve dominated him. A lot of us have been saying this for years.


They still should’ve fought though.
 
in my opinion oliveira is just that good
and would beat khabib too
that guy is the real deal
 
Look if they fought when they were first scheduled to fight, Tony would have had a chance. But Khabib has improved so much since 2017. His striking went from subpar to above average. Hist wrestling/ground game grew in dimensions with new focus on submissions to finish fights earlier. An earlier Khabib would have given Tony 5 rounds to find a submission win. Modern Khabib would submit him in the 2nd or 3rd round after fighting with him on the feet.

what could he do different lol ? even young tony was controlled similarly by castillo who is way below oliveira and khabib. You re smart, u know that tony has 0 wrestling and that pressed against the cage his grappling is nullified.
