Tony Cecchine - Anyone ever roll with him?

By the way, is it true that Karl Gotch used to refer to "the guard" as the "whore hold"?

It wouldn't surprise me. Gotch was very opinionated!

The Lost Art of Hooking DVD is awesome. I use it from time to time in my BJJ class and guys are clueless as to what I'm doing when it works on them (even higher belts).

But then it usually ends up with them getting kind of irritated and they keep instructing me to use BJJ techniques, but in a way as if I didn't know the BJJ technique lol.

What exactly did you get from the art of hooking dvd that actually works?

Oh some minor things here and there, but made the difference.

For example, this one guy didn't think he could get guillotined while being prone and flat on his stomach, while i was in the same position mirroring him. But his stuff in general in addition to that DVD mentioned is cool and works, which I have also used to supplement my game or when I just feel like doing something different.

please describe the position, how the hell are you going to guillotine someone on that position? I mean, you could probably choke him out with some anaconda grip, but guillotine?

You have to watch the video. Its the way he positions his hands, kind of like he's figure fouring them instead of gable gripping them in that position.

The bar-chancery choke. It's basically a choking version of the front facelock. Mechanics are similar in some ways to Marcelo's Guillotine only without pulling guard, instead turning their head and collapsing it on itself.

I can see BJJ refs calling it an illegal neck crank though even if it doesn't necessarily end up that way.

Actually that's a quarter nelson, my bad.

I'll see if I can find an actual picture.

Erik Paulson did show the choke in a Stephan Kesting video but Kesting's removed it which is annoying. Maybe he's going to put a DVD out or something.

Here's the Front Facelock "Grovit" version by Billy Robinson:

Here we go.

It can been modified and done from the bottom while sprawling. In pure folkstyle and freestyle some wrestlers would try to get away with a similar choke where the headlocking arm would rest on the trapezius while the other arm was used to control the mirrored arm of the opponent trying to shoot in on you. Sometimes they'd get away with it, choke them enough to get them dizzy and turned over for a pin.

that is call a power guillotine in bjj, or MMA, and its not secret that you can generate much more power with this grip, if there is no arm in, I always use this grip...

just saw the video from bill robinson, its a little different from the power guillotine...

Power Guillotine grips the bicep too I believe with no pressure on the shoulder & trapezius.

Is a 'Ninja Choke' basically a power guillotine but with the grip switched or something? I don't see what the difference between the two is.

well, Edit my post, different sub, power guillotine = choke hold, Front face lock, neck crank...

Yep. Catch Wrestling has a long tradition of innuendo, for better or worse :icon_neut
