Do you think it worked well at other people who were extremely passive? Almost everyone from that camp tried it. There has to be a reason. Maybe someone just came in and was like "did you know you're allowed to finish fights lets try this first move" and they ran with it.

the tristar jiu jitsu coach john danaher has been pushing his leg lock system at the gym, it was mentioned a few times throughout the night.

Yes I know, but why... leglocks are fucking hard when legs are sweaty

Is John Danaher the Jiu Jitsu guy at tristar now?
Doesn't he run Renzo's school in NY?

they should've at least brought in Palhares to teach them how to finish a leg lock/heel hook..

And he's not even an MMA fighter.

What a waste of time. He tried the move so many times, and so soon into the fight that it may be suggestive that it was how he envisioned the fight ending.

Rory was going for the leg lock even from bottom when he didn't suicide takedown. They obviously thought it was a good game plan.

Looks like it works out pretty good , people on sherdog are talking about. Probably the only reason they tried it

Rory thought he could do his best Ryo Chonan impersonation tonight.

I think he had to try something. If he had landed it, this thread would be praising him, and shitting on Thompson

They dont agree with Palhares way of doing this. they want it the mild way while he is either 100% or dont bother guy

I've always wondered wheter or not some fighters attempt leg locks even in situations where they know it won't lead into a finish, but rather do it solely to cause pain to their opponents and make something pop atleast a little bit? Like, say, you know you don't have full control of your opponent, but you crank anyway because you can.

From my point of view, hearing and feeling something crack would definitely worry me even though my joints would still have full range of movement during the fight.

because many bjj places don't practice them alot, so most people have poor defense. even in many bjj tournaments leglocks of any kind are illegal below certain belt levels.

That moment you realize you're not Paul Harris...
