Tom Aspinall's Record

He took a few years out and went into boxing because he was having a hard time finding opponents. He was too good from early on and nobody on smaller shows wanted to fight him, that's why he signed with Cage Warriors and then the UFC not long after when he wanted to take a longer road.

He didn't last long in boxing because he didn't like the politics and things like having to pay your opponent to fight you.

Also his record should be 15-2. His only real loss is to Stuart Austin, who he beat the shit out of but was caught in a heel hook, back when he was 22.

His other losses are by injury to Blaydes, which goes on the record but shouldn't really be seen by fans as a defeat in the sense that Blaydes didn't beat him. His other loss was a DQ due to 12-6 elbows. What is interesting about this fight is that Tom says the elbow wasn't 12-6 and was perfectly legal, the ref made a mistake. And when he complained to the organisation they "lost" the footage of the fight.
Thanks for the info. I knew he only had 1 real loss. I didn't know about the detour to boxing. I had heard the difficulty getting opponents - I feel like that's a bit questionable, but I guess it makes sense.

I guess I was just looking at it from a "this guy's been a fighter his whole life and doesn't have a whole lot of fights". But with all the context, it makes more sense.

DC hasn't fought in almost 4 years, has chubbed up quite a bit, and often looks like he's struggling to walk, like someone with bad back problems.

Terrible idea.
I actually think he finally slimmed down a bit. He was indeed gigantic some time ago

That's good, if so. I'm not hating on the guy, he's earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants at this point.

BUT - I still think the fight is a bad idea, even if he's thinned back down some.

Oh, the fight is 200% a bad idea lol. Im sorry for not addressing it lol

It’s HWs. It’s hard to find fights when you are big or very small.

For someone who has dedicated his entire life to MMA, started training at 7 with Dad and intent of becoming a fighter from very early on - he doesn't have a whole lot of fights for being 31.
14-3 Pro Record with with 6 ammy fights
First am fight in 2010 and then a 3 year layover before next fight. Turned pro in 2014, fought regularly until 2016 and then another 3 year layover. Last fight in CW in 2019 and then another year layover before UFC debut. And he only had 2 fights in CW. He's had 8 fights in UFC in 3 1/2 years with a year off for knee injury, so he's kept busy since getting to UFC. It just feels like he has too few fights for being a fighter his entire life and this stage of career.
He's gotten decent experience in his UFC run, but very little overall time in the cage. Do you think his overall lack of experience will play a factor in his next, most difficult fightsĺ

Let us not forget cain was only 9 and 0 when he won the world title

Sorry guys my bad just figuring out this forum from all the years of lurking. Anyways, cain was only 9-0 when he won the title

There’s a reason why Jon Jones and Stipe are
blatantly ducking Tom.
whats the reason?
did tom wiped out the whole HW division?
how many generations did he wiped out?

sorry im a noob

I love that his black belt was from his dad's 'BJJ gym" who has a grand total of One BJJ black belt.

Can't wait til he's knocked the fuck out and old mate grabs the mic channelling Weiddas and says "eeze still me lad innit!"

Maybe i the UK there were not many willing Journeymen at HW.

Wins over Pav, Volkov, Tybura and old AA are a nice set of wins.
Funny Pav went from the top of the food chain to the bottom with his loss to Tom. People around here were saying he would destroy HW; no one speaks a word about him now, and Tom's win is treated like nothing. Go figure.

Compare those wins to others' fight with those guys- for example, Gane struggled for 3 rounds with Volkov and Tom finished him quickly in the first round.

Tom is looking like he may develop into a great.

Not proven yet.

Reyes before Jones, Pavlo before Aspinall, Costa before Izzy, Gane before Ngannou are perfect comparisons to current Aspinall.
