Sounds like you're biased. I'm a fan of Tom's and I'll lose respect for him if he sits out and freezes the division for the rest of the year, after criticizing Jones for doing the exact same thing.

It doesn't matter if you're injured or not. If you're not willing or able to fight, you should vacate and take your title shot when you return.

Why is it different?

You get injured because someone fouled you, or you win your championship fight but get unintentionally injured in victory, what does it matter?

If you're out for 10+ months, you need to vacate. Period. You're trying to add some special quality that it's different because Tom was fouled, and it's not.

Tom worked his whole life for Championship paydays. You cant give that up because someone else is cheating and sticking fingers in your eyes and youre injured because of it.
Also, vacating in this case would give the cheater in this case a free path to the belt. Rewarding cheating behaviour would be ridiculous

Well if Tom sits out for another 6 months I'm gonna turn against him and so will a lot of other people that supported him up to this point. I hope it's worth it, if that's the plan.

I dont think Tom will care too much if you turn on him pal. I also dont think he cares too much about the opinions of all 'eye doctors' on this forum.

i've seen a lot of athletes ending with bad fractures after a foul, some of them never recover completely and none pretend that they have to sue the federation or ask for the ban of the guy who fauled them.

some people here must think that this sport is like wwe, with the (fake) CEO entering the ring and calling an immediate rematch or shit like that, with crazy takes about common things like fouls that doesn't exist in every other sport.

I think Tom will care if the majority of people supporting him turn against him in the coming 6 months.

But that remains to be seen. If he refuses to vacate, comes back and then defends his belt by the end of 2026, it might work in his favor. But if he refuses to vacate and gets stripped, he might be fucked. And if he sits out another 6 months and then loses in his return, he's really fucked.

I think maintaining good will with the fans is important. Jiri maintained a strong fan base despite his losses because he did the right thing and vacated.

I think Tom is able to accept that some people are just not very bright. Because people that expect him to vacate his belt after his eyes got fingered, are simply not very bright. And they also have 0 idea how much blood, sweat and tears it was to even get the belt.

The UFC is a clown show, but them stripping someone who got his eyes fingered?

Tom's next fight will be a big rematch against Gane. It will be very interesting. Many people want to see it. And Tom will collect a nice amount of money

I'm not making up rules buddy. It's common fucking sense. Injured is injured.

You are the one making shit up, trying add some special quality that being injured is different if it was from a foul.
