Opinion Today we are all Nostradumasses (the unofficial 2026 predictions thread)

- Trump will hit Iran again. Probably with greater force than last year. This will inevitably lead to conflict spreading throughout the Middle East, and a rise in terror attacks in the West.

- The British Government will lurch from one scandal/crisis to another. Reform will become the party of choice for many former Tories, while the Greens will scoop up disaffected left-wing voters.

- The former Prince Andrew will die under suspicious circumstances. Officially, his death will be ruled a suicide brought on by the strain of the Epstein Files.

- Speaking of which: not a single person who abused the girls Epstein trafficked will go to jail.

- Political violence will increase in the US, with assassination attempts of both Republicans and Democrats. Both sides will, of course, blame the other while denying any culpability themselves.

- Extreme weather events such as heatwaves, floods, blizzards etc will become more commonplace. LA will suffer more devastating wild fires.

- Massive earthquakes in Asia, with China and Japan suffering the worst damage. Three Gorges Dam collapses, causing massive flooding. San Francisco is hit by, "the Big One".

- A peace agreement will be signed by Russia and Ukraine, ending the war but pleasing neither side. Shortly afterwards, Putin will fall out of a window...

- King Charles will abdicate on grounds of ill health. Prince William becomes King.

- Another Pandemic. Efforts to impose more Lockdowns will be met with violent resistance.

- Terror attack during the FIFA World Cup.

- Democrats sweep the Midterms. Angry and increasingly isolated, unable to shake the Epstein allegations, Trump decides to go for broke and orders the release of all US Military files pertaining to UFO's. This conclusively proves that not only did the US Government know about intelligent Alien life, they've actually met and signed treaties with them.

- An Islamic terror attack on the Vatican kills the Pope along with many other innocent victims. In retaliation, extremist Catholics carry out attacks on innocent Muslims, kicking off a cycle retaliatory violence.
I really admire your cheerfully optimistic disposition. <YayKpop>

1. Minimum wage will remain at $7.25/hr until 2028

2. Inflation will rise again in 2026
Minimum wage workers will have to work 2 hours in order to pay for a combo meal at McDonald's. Forget about eating at Five Guys, because eating a combo meal there in 2026 after another inflation rise will cost them an entire shift pay.

3. Health Insurance premiums skyrocket, which allows other companies not related to the health industry to raise prices higher too. This is the domino effect.

4. The heritage foundation will find new & creative ways to keep fucking America over & over again.

5. A Charlie Kirk statue will be built somewhere in America, followed by a Charlie Kirk memorial site built as a tourist attraction.

6. Trump's face will be chiseled into Mt. Rushmore
They can build Saint Charlie's statues next to Saint Floyd's... <mma4>

Well
I hope youre wrong =)

Innocents continue to die senselessly in Ukraine

Rich bastards continue to rip off the world and distract us

Smooth brains fall in love with party leaders and influencers and hate their own neighbors

The elites keep winning and high-fiving each other behind the scenes, the commoners keep losing and fighting each other for no reason

So.. pretty much the same as last year

I predict that Rosie O'Donnell will have a sex change and become a man. Then marry liza minelli's husband, and beat him.

People will refuse to file their taxes because of the Minnesota Somali fraud scandal going on.

There will be riot somewhere over a issue the media hyped up.

Democrats will still protect illegals committing crimes and Republicans will still wage their finger st them instead of prosecuting people.

According to the Star Trek timeline, WW3 starts in 2026. And it really looks like that's where we're headed.
Day 3 and we're really not doing a great job avoiding this from coming to fruition

Pain.

Very likely even rougher waters ahead. The Democrats seem largely fine and even complicit with the awful shit Trump is doing (it allows them to be the "good cops" and mop up the mess without actually changing the system that produced this mess) and the deterioration of the liberal order in western countries will likely continue due to their failings to reconcile with the private interests draining their countries and their complicity in imperial criminality. Leftists will continue to be proven correct in our criticism of liberalism and Capitalism. Lotta liberals have changed their tune or shut the absolute fuck up on attacking us after seeing liberal complicity and complacency with this regime's crimes as well as their complicity abroad, like the hoity toity liberals who support fucking genocide. All the rainbow stickers ain't washing the stench of imperialism off. Those rainbows and even the veneer of performative social progressivism/virtue signaling fade real fucking quick when shit gets real, which will happen when one has no actual principles. I digress. On the plus side, normie libs are pissed, which is good. More of them see the game for what it is. Trump has taken the mask off this empire/system and if there's only one positive from this mess, that is it. He just says it and I appreciate that, he's opened people's eyes. No more pretending. We are the baddies.

Dems will likely crush in the midterms despite this comically inept regime's attempts to rig the midterms. This may stem the bleeding a bit but I don't think it will stop it.

Trump has never faced consequences for anything he's done and while his and his cabinet's criminality is to insane banana republic levels, I'm not convinced anything is going to happen to him nor his cronies based on this and the lack anyone held to account after the Civil War and Nixon, not to mention even Epstein. If this continues, the US decline will accelerate even faster than it's going meow, this bullshit is the gasps of desperation from a decaying empire and a despot who's lost critical support. He is only able to achieve all this because the system is setup to concentrate power to begin with. If this regime is held to account for its criminality, it will set a precedent. I don't think those in power want to do that, hence why Obama didn't hold the Bush era war criminals to account, nor the bankers who crashed the economy for that matter.

Seems like a solid chance the AI bubble starts to if not outright bursts, it's the extent of what the damage will be that's hard to see, this bubble is different to previous ones though this does feel very "roaring 20s". This K shaped economy can only last so long. It seems to me it's just all when this comes to a head, not if. 2026? Maybe. It's largely guesswork.

That said, I think it'll become clear to the majority and even these AI techno lords themselves the limitations of machine learning. Machine learning/LLMs =/= AI. This snake can only eat its own ass for so long.

Some Dems like Ro Khanna will attempt to hold Trump's regime to account but the effort will be insufficient.

BRICS will continue to grow and possibly expand to more countries, fueled by the US' desperate imperialism. The more the US tightens its grip, the less of a hold it has. I am rather confident on this one issue. The world has had enough of our bullshit but the dollar is still powerful and working around US hegemony takes time and calculation.

A lotta people in the US will die from lack of healthcare/rising costs of everything. Well, rather, that number will tick up as things were already bad prior to Trump.

Gold and silver will continue to do well.

China's rise will continue. The digital Yuan will gain more prominence. The US' brazen incursion into Venezuela will have more countries looking to China.

Housing crisis will get worse internationally.

I don't know if some big event will take place - that's pure guesswork - but I am reasonably confident the decline will continue. I don't see any New Deal coming to save us nor do I think this system can be reformed (at least not without altering the structure so much that it becomes essentially unrecognizable which I don't see happening, at least not in the near term). We've already done that. It's been undone and we've a new form of what could be called technofeudalism to deal with and a lotta western countries are becoming more authoritarian.

One of the possible presidential contenders in the US for the Dems in 2028 killed UHC in his state and doesn't think billionaires should be taxed more. Not real inspiring.

All in all, more progress down the river of pain with a possible couple of life rafts being thrown in.

Anybody going to read this novel?

i sure hope not, his views have already entered the mainstream though, i think the GOP will lose members to the far right after losing in 28, much like the tories did in the UK after getting kicked out, now the looney reform party seems to be the major opposition to labour, it depends how badly trump fucks things up though, jd vance isnt getting the oval office unless trump dies suddenly before his term ends or gets seriously ill, thats my main prediction.
I believe that no matter how much Trump's brain rots between now and November they will prop him up and cover for him unless he dies. But even then I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to pretend he was still kicking. However, I expect that as soon as possible after the mid-terms, they'll oust his diaper-covered arse via the 25th amendment.

i think it depends on his polling and the mid term results

Perhaps, but only if he's already the puppet of Vance, Thiel, Et al., IMO. I think it might even be possible they're deliberately leading him to take measures that damage his popularity so they can ensure success if they try to dump him. I think once the mid-terms are over, there is no benefit to Vance and co. to keeping him around when they can just make Vance president instead.

Frankly, I pretty much take for granted that his polling is not going to get any better and that the mid-terms will be a total drubbing for the Republicans. So, if I'm wrong about that, I could see being wrong also about the paragraph above, but to me it seems la very likely outcome.
