Not really.
You can tap out before your knee gets wrecked by a leglock, you can't tap before getting your knee destroyed by an oblique kick.

Has zero to do with whether or not I like them. The statement was simply incorrect, sorry.if you dont like oblique kicks,go fight in a sport where they arent allowed. Plus i dont see anyone's knee destroyed by jon jones
Valid point. But he's insane, and an exception, rather than the norm.Tell that to Paul Harris opponents.
Head strikes cause traumatic brain injuries, should those be banned as well?
The strange part about that is that they're taught at judo, sambo and catch wrestling schools, yet you don't see people limping out on crutches everyday there. The reason leglocks are dangerous to a lot of jujitsu practitioners is that they simply don't know enough about them. I'll give you that it can happen in an instance if you don't know what you're doing though, but if you've been rolling with leglocks from the beginning you know very well when to tap.Leg locks are notoriously damaging. That's why they're generally not taught to early stage jiu jitsu students. The way it's been taught to me, it's often the case that with leglocks, one you feel pain you are already injured.
Also, an oblique kick has never ended a MMA fight. Other leg kicks have.
