TJ is massively over rated, known and tested positive, and dirty training partner

I wouldn't believe much from tam and they sabotaged Cody's career. PED's doesn't automatically make you a great fighter or take away from the fact that TJ was a workaholic who continually added to his skillset

Only an idiot would believe that, its TJ trying to preserve his legacy. Everything he does is calculated.


Cody Garbrandt famously said that TJ taught Team Alpha Male how to do steroids. Take that as you will, but it sounds plausible with his history.

His wins and record hasn't really held up. Watson, Lee, Tamura, Viana are all cans. They only got a chance because 135 was relatively weak and they needed to stock the division. Mike Easton, Joe Soto, John Lineker are middle tier fighters at best. Barao while at the time was a great win, doesn't look as impressive today after Baraos post title run where he lost the majority of the fights to gatekeepers at best.

His wins over Cody were great wins, but even Cody has looked average since then. His win over Cory was hardly impressive and his fight against Aljo was just a cash grab.

TJ is the last person who should be commenting on other's morality, integrity, heart when he is a fucking known cheater. It would be like if your friend was kicking your ass at a video game while he uses cheat codes, then talks shit to and says how much you suck and bullies you. There has yet to be anyone who has come anywhere close to mixing in takedowns with striking, angle swapping mid combos, and setting up punches w/ kicks and vice versa. That isn't an opinion but just a fact if you have eyes

What about the families of the fighters TJ fought whilst abusing EPO?
He took their livelihoods and careers. His whole style was heavy movement based footwork when he became good. His whole style was built off having a better gas tank than his opponents and he would get finishes late as they would fatigue, but he wouldn't.

It was amazing how he just seemed to be able to keep up that level of output across 5 rounds fights during his best run...
Crazy that he just never seemed to experience the drop off in later rounds that other footwork based fighters experience. During his title defence run he got finishes in the 5,5, and 4th round, lost the title to Cruz but nearly came back in the 4,5 rounds to win in that fight. He won his next 2 fights as decisions were he won on output and then we had the Garbrandt fights.

Credit to him for being extremely skilled, but if EPO wasn't such a major enhancer, he wouldn't risk using it.

Mostly agree but should note that the Dodson stoppage was a pretty bad one and the Assuncao fight pre-Barao was a robbery, so people should have been a bit more aware of TJ's come up. Still, he's a cheater, a probably a lifelong one, and a real piece of shit.
 
He's a cheater, for sure, a snake, a bad teammate, for sure, but I don't think he's overrated. The guy was a wrestler who acquired in a few years a good footwork, a good enough boxing and kicking
