News Titanic Tours Submersible missing in atlantic ocean

What the fuck is that? There is no way that is inside this thing...

It's the re-Tardis.

Massive inside, tiny outside

US Navy dude thinks it's stuck down there.

The most interesting part of the video is a submarine captain explains how the Titanic sub could have got hung up on wreckage.... but that does explain why the communication services would have failed.

So they're probably dead.

I know alot of the reporting is supposed to inspire hope for the chances they could be found alive, but those chances were slim to none in the first place.

it was something I heard about recently. Apparently the high profile people/items on board caused or influenced an economic fallout. TBH I didn't follow through on it that much but it was a convincing idea.
Thats what develops as an explanation if people have no i interest in actual research. It's a naive and stupid idea with tons of facts proving otherwise but people love these exotic single causation theories.

Hmmm then you should not have called it a fact.
It sounds weird to me. And it gets worse when you mention WW1.
There is nothing that ties Titanic to WW1 other than the sister ship being used as a troop transporter during the war. And it getting sunk IIRC.

There is no way a ship sinking in 1912 caused the great depression in US 17 years later. Also Titanic was a English ship from White Star line.
I will go with the stock crash in 29 being a big reason.
You know the 20ties was called the roaring 20ties because it was booming, people bet their savings on stocks and some got very rich.
(something we see regularly these days too, we never seen to learn from history).

The titanic also caused the vietnam war and was directly responsible for the design of the air jordan. A lot of people don't know that.

Wouldn't that be some shit if the thing actually dropped into the Titanic wreckage itself, what a hell of a way to die.

I dont know why y0.
But I believe you.

But was is quite "funny"...
There was 3 sister ships Titanic being one.
All sank with in 5 years.
First Titanic and the 2 others was sunk during WWI.
Talk about bad luck.

Agreed except for the banging recorded every 30min on Tuesday.

My vote is for loss of power, and subsequent failure of the manual ballast release, that would explain the lack of communication and surfacing. Although on further digging the ballast release dissolves so that in case of failure they float to the surface. Looks like they might be on the surface. Very hard to find!

I expect they're at the bottom, in the dark, frozen now as temps are near freezing and they're in a metal uninsulated tube. Or on the surface, though I wonder how they're not found in that instance. There's been no reports of banging today yet, I think they're already dead.

Kinda a worst case.

Interesting interview , a journalist tells how they got stuck also viewing the Titanic and how labour intensive/expensive it is to build such a submersible, so to build one cheaply...no bueno. And it seems communications are open all the time, so it appears the signal does traverse to those depths.

The nutty putty story is nightmarish. People who crawl into passages that MIGHT not be wide enough.....I can't even comprehend WTF they might have been thinking. In fact, Spelunking in general is fucking stupid

This whole news story about the Titanic sub led me to this thread to that post and down this rabbit hole big time. Never heard about this and way more interesting. Just seeing the pics of people on google spelunking, posing in tight spots or coming out of small holes all smiles and thumbs up, so stupid it bothers me. I don't think I've ever read a story that gave me anxiety chills like this though, absolutely terrible, but still at the end of the day just is what it is the guy was really stupid and did it to himself, very sad.

From what I understand the communication is via pings, sound, very limited text bandwidth. It's cessation and the banging leads me to believe loss of power is involved.

A reporter who was there when the vessel was stuck going in circles 18 months ago said they fixed it by holding the controller upsidedown.

There's reports of a dude being fired after complaining about multiple safety concerns too.

Not looking good. I honestly thought the PS control pad thing was a joke when it was posted here until seeing it on the news. Kind of horrible for the kid down there. Don’t want to “victim blame” but even just looking at the thing the word “safety” doesn’t enter my mind at all.
