I just watched this video where Tin (can) Ferriss (thanks @kpoz12)gets instruction from Josh Waitzkin to finish the Marcelotine. I thought it was interesting.

Lol, you're right. Just posted because I thought it was an interesting video. I hate how they let him have those guillotines at the end.

You can learn ANYTHING in less than 3 weeks with my AMAZING TRICKS AND BIOHACKS!

Now watch me as I barely learn a single submission in BJJ and use it to tap a purple belt who lets me tap him!

Satava was feeding him the neck the whole time. You can clearly see how his chin is never tucked and he keeps the path for the guillotining arm open the whole roll.

Yeah. I know they were giving it to him. The first time he caught that guillotine I was WTF!? Then I noticed how they were feeding it to him. Satava should have just dominated him like the first roll. I guess it wouldn't make a good video for filthy casuals.

I still think it's an interesting video.

FWIW my guess is that was the point of the episode. They wanted him to spot 'trigger positions' for the guillotine to see if he'd launch them when he got them. Satava wasn't trying to do a competitive roll, but moreso trying to see if Tim has ingrained some of the guillotine knowledge that he'd been practicing.

The clips make it really hard to assess his skill. Isn't he a purple belt under Dave Camarillo?

Didn't this can say he was going to win worlds?

hes accomplished quite a bit, probably more than most here...also literally hundreds or thousands of people say theyre going to win worlds and dont

Well, I wouldn't call Waitzkin a can. He has done quite a bit in his life and to win worlds is a pretty big feat. It could have been a goal he set for himself but maybe his age and the mountain were to great.

And given his past record in other pursuits, it wouldn't be crazy for him to commit himself mentally that he WAS going to win. That doesn't sound that far off from his general competitive mindset.

I'm going to win worlds. No seriously, I'm Mormon. I'll get my own planet when I die.

Yeah, he's a Marcelo blackbelt.

I liked his book a lot as well.
A bit heavy on the zen stuff, but a lot of good ideas there.

It boggles my mind that people still pay attention to anything Tim Ferris says or does.

TIN FERRIS VS GIBLERT MELEDEZ!
