News Tim Sylvia to Slap Fight Championship

Not too long ago, (3 years actually) when Tim Sylvia was calling out Dana and the UFC for refusing to help him with medical bill?

In a subsequent Instagram post, Sylvia shared a video of his injury and elaborated further on the conversation his surgeon had with the UFC, claiming the company said, “Tough sh*t, Tim Sylvia doesn’t fight for the UFC anymore.”

This old issue crossed my mind, when I saw news of Tim Sylvia now competing for Dana's PowerSlap thing. Does this maybe have darker implications?

Thoughts?

that is a bummer. the economy sucks so bad a former ufc champ has to sign up to get slappedin the face for money.

economy or bad decisions i should say.

meanwhile, another former champ in lesnar is still pulling in the big dollars doing something else.
pretty tough to compare Tim Sylvia to Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar is a freak of nature who was already a successful WWE superstar when he arrived which fast-tracked his stardom. Tim was relatively unknown and while i don't mean to disparage the guy, he had a very large, oddly shaped body, bad tattoos and fought at a time where the game was still a little rough around the edges.

tha'ts not Dana's league. Tim is in the permanent shit house because he was one of the first guys to willingly leave the UFC to go fight somewhere else. He then proceeded to get whooped two times in a row and probably perceived to make them look bad.

Most disingenuous thing I've read today

Yikes. And I must be crazy cuz neither of those people look like Tim.

Tim would get a ton of hate on these forums back in the day, but damn this is just sad.

Boy I wish these guys had better money management and planned for the future, but at the same time they are all a product of their own actions. I have no sympathy for anybody that chooses chasing their dreams as an athlete instead of working a steady 9-5

It is sad, but hell the guy has to make money. At least he is not getting KO'd on a nightly basis at shitty russian bars like Bigfoot was... or Diego will be soon.

Considering he's 6'8 he's minimum 350lbs here I'd say. He used to have to cut to make 265lbs when he was in shape.

This was him at 305lbs.

Timmy fought Da Pudz?? Why did I never know this???

I remember seeing a video about Tim a few years ago. He had a roofing or construction company and also did a hunting show on local TV. He seemed to be doing well. Hopefully he got a offer he just couldn't refuse and isn't struggling.

That looks bad. I didn't know he still had the screws in. I had a plate and 6-7 screws, and they were taken out after 6 months.

Is Tim Sylvia in the UFC Hall of Fame?
No, which is a robbery. He won the HW belt twice and defended it three times. He tested positive for one his defenses, but take that away and he's still a 2-time champ with 2 defenses. It's probably the second biggest travesty to Frank Shamrock not being in.

I like Cerrone and all, but it makes no sense to induct long-term gatekeepers with zero titles over champs with multiple defenses. I guess Jim Miller is next...

It was only Pudz third fight and he basically collapsed from gassing out cos he was carrying way too much muscle.

Tim commented on this recently, he said the screws were taken out about three years ago and his arms much better now.
