Kevin lee is more explosive and aggressive than khabib, in the first round that is. Khabib will definitely td tony, the thing is what will tony do from his back and the scrambles. Plus, khabib most definitely won't finish tony quick, and khabib does slow down as the fight goes. Tony is a cardio freak with 0 quit. Fourth round, khabib doesn't get tds anymore and tony is in his face throwing nasty strikes, that's when it gets fun

Khabib is an expert in positioning, weight distribution and advancement that leads to his opponents either giving a neck or GNP.

Khabib fights as if he had a matrix machine hooked up to his brain and uploaded a fight sequence and he just automatically follows that sequence

Chael said it best-He didnt even loose a sequence in the fight with Dustin.

From the first second of the fight to the last second or to the finish Khabib fights like he is in full control of the fight.

So its not always about explosiveness. Even Dustin said that his key was weight distribution, control and tenacity

Khabib is a master of grappling/position advancement

Except Lee is a power wrestler and khabib is more of a chain wrestler. We haven't seen Ferguson against a chain wrestler of khabib's calibre.

Khabib took down ppl kevin lee couldnt on regular basis (RDA/Iaquinta). In the 5th round against Iaquinta was brutal.

Regardless of what the Dawg will tell you, when Lee isn't gassed, hes really fucking good. Streaky, inconsistent has issues with staph and weight cuts, because these do play factors that no one seems to care about, Lee is damn good.

Like I said in another thread, Tony's wild streak and comfort while playing the bottom game will be his undoing against Khabib unless he can hurt khabib early.

He couldnt takedown RDA or keep him down in Round 1 when he wasnt gassed.

Ferguson is most likely going to get run the fuck over by Khabib, but there actually is a decent chance of him landing an upkick. He throws a lot of them, even illegally against barboza, and Khabib's favorite position is posturing up and landing gnp bombs from a standing position, which is the only position from which upkicks work and are legal.

So I rewatched the Ferguson/Lee fight last night. I did remember Lee getting the better of Ferguson on multiple occasions but I didn't realize how dominant he was in the grappling department compared to Ferguson.

Now I don't know how Kevin Lee's strength compares to Khabib's, but I hope this is not a preview of what will happen in the Khabib fight. A lot of the times Lee got a hold of Ferguson, he managed to overpower him and get the takedown.

Ferguson had the striking edge. I won't post all the highlights of the fight, I just wanted to focus on his biggest weakness which will be put to the test in his next fight.

This fight probably won't be close. If Ferguson's fans are so invested in him being able to do work from full-guard/half-guard, you know that you are expecting him to lose the takedown battle and will get stuck on bottom. Khabib isn't a novice grappler like Kevin Lee is.

and also Tony went through even more devastating moments when he fought Lando but then also won lol

"Later rounds" being...round 2? Because while Lee had a good round 1, Tony won round 2 on all 3 judges cards and then finished in rd 3.

I was a Lee hater up until he took the fight against Gillespie. But I think Lee 2.0 has better coaching now, he was humble leading up to that last fight (although that may be temporary), and took that fight with a lot of downside and very little upside. And he made the best of that situation. That being said, I think he's the strongest guy, and maybe the most athletic in the LW division, and he actually has good striking (longest reach in LW?). He just needs to keep his humble attitude, continue to build his cardio, work with Firas day and night on fight strategy, and he may be back in title contention. Lee 1.0 would NEVER hang with Nurmagomedov after the 2nd round.

Lee has never been outgrappled in round 1 in his career. Not once. His gas tank is trash, but he's a beast grappler early in fights.

People just forget because of how garbage his gas tank is that he completely dominated round 1 vs Iaquinta too, had his back most of the round (in the second fight).

Oh, and how easily he made work of a solid MMA grappler like Chiesa...

Different weight class and Khabib landed a whopping 36 sig strikes on RDA. Yeah he controlled him but neither did any damage. 38 total sig strikes landed in the fight, it was a complete hugfest snoozer.
