I love this movie and one of Cruise’s best performances. Didn’t care for this scene though. Felt too much like it was shoehorned in to show his range and dramatic chops. It’s forced. No one rants like that and I can’t take it seriously

Young Demi Moore was so beautiful.

I wish she never got those implants though.

This is before Jim Carrey in the Ace Ventura films.

So I guess Jim Carrey was doing a Tom Cruise.

Love this scene Cruise is at his best.

Agree with @RollSonnenRoll AFGM was a great performance by Cruise but in this scene his rage comes off forced and overdone. He's channeling his best Alexandr Karelin but doesn't quite nail the intensity. Solid 7 good but not great.

I do enjoy how Cruise's character has hardly any ribbons, showing that he's a true desk jockey and very junior officer.

Hollywood fucks up military uniforms and ranks so much it's good to see when it's done right.

Yeah it's a little forced, but still great. It shows there are a few great scenes in this movie (including the obvious one and the 'you have to ask me nicely' scene).

I gave it a 7. It’s a good scene, but the best scenes in that movie are “You can’t handle the truth” (of course), and when Kevin Pollack mocks Demi Moore (for the longest time I thought that was Andi McDowell) and says “Oh, but I strenuously object.”
