There's been a lot of momentum behind Hooft for the last few years. Once upon a time, the Blackzillians couldn't be more complimentary of him as a stand up coach.

Now he's one of the head honchos st Hardknocks 365. However, I'm struggling to find examples of fighters whose stand-up games got noticeably better under his tutelage, Rockhold being no exception

He's pretty solid, its not his fault that s stiff breeze noodle legs Luke. There's nothing NOBODY can do about that.

He is like 0-10 in title fights and is clearly failing miserably some where....and to think folks rag on Edmund and Kav, who both have winning title percentages.

Rumble's striking got ALOT better under his wing. But yeh he doesn't seem to be doing very good lately

And Rumble, Odezimir and Vitor all losing their TS shots too, not to mention Luke won the title without him and then got KO'd by Bisping when he started training with him.

I am not sure, I am sure he is good, but may not be working with the fighters whose style fits with his. He has like a classic style, perfect for K1. I haven't seen much improvements in Rockhold, Vitor etc.

Might be a good striking coach, but his striking defense needs work.

He is best with fighters just learning how to strike/not very good strikers like Usman and Burns.

i was with you until the end. both of those guys are absolute trash as well.

Hooft is probably better served as just the striking coach in a camp, but not the head coach.

Well, in fairness rumble was taken to ground where he has no heart and this is an older vitor.....and odezimir really had no business (At this moment) with cormier...
But- then again Chris hired him for the stand up prowess of Gegard and Mousasi caved his face in and literally made him quit....

Maybe he's a little less than solid-lol

You think Rockholds knockout loss to Romero came down to his chin. Romero would’ve knocked anybody out with those shots. People on here have no idea about “chins” or defense on here. Hunt got knocked out cold by a glancing calf muscle to the forehead from JDS, yet morons claim he has an iron chin and at one time “couldn’t be knocked out”.

To me it seems he has a very set style that focuses on a few strike combinations he likes. He also preaches volume and aggression. The problem arises when the fighter isn't able to get the KO with those couple combinations and the opponent figures them out. There is no plan B or an organic, reactive way to strike. Just spamming the same combos and strikes Hooft favors. Once the opponent has seen them a few times, they start to lose their effectiveness. It seems like a pattern where Hooft fighters start pretty strong but fade about halfway through the fight when what they were doing stops working and they have no backup plan.
