Fili is an interesting guy.

He's been fighting in the UFC for over a decade, and his longest win streak is 2, alternating win/losses for almost 6 years.
He's never really beaten a top guy in the UFC and the names he has beaten were usually either past their prime (Cub), or guys like Jourdain and Bermudez (fighter's that couldn't get over the hump)

That said, I've enjoyed watching him fight and he's been in some memorable bouts. I always thought if he could put together a better gameplan and had higher fight IQ, he could have been top 10.

Just curious what people's opinions are of him.

Talented kid who put his points into scrapping instead of fight IQ.

We need mid card bangers too.

Exciting scrambles/grappling and he's a fun striker to watch. He's a entertaining fighter that is pretty well rounded when he puts it all together.

Just a gatekeeper. I dunno, followed the guy for awhile and he hasn't sunk or swim. I've given up hope on him putting it together. He can put on a fun fight or 2, but I don't see him having a late career surge.

I don't think about him at all until I see him in a fight.. Then I think too many tattoos

Once a promising prospect but now a solid enough mid-tier fighter. Not everyone gets to be champion...

I think he suffered from Bang Ludwig leaving Team Alpha male, as well as Garbrandt, Faber, Benavidez, TJ, Mendes and many others either not fighting, retiring or leaving.
TAM lost so many good guys.
His ceiling would've been a bit higher.

Good entertaining fighter but I fear his time may be up with the ufc

I can't believe he's 35 now. Makes me feel old

I remember him getting pissed that someone else was getting hype and he was all "I'm supposed to be the next big thing!" lol. I forget who it was, it's been awhile.
I also remember Nick Diaz getting pissed at Diego Sanchez for getting more hype than him too and talking shit. This was right before Deigo beat him lol.

He's one of my favorite "role player" fighters he reminds me of a ton of dudes I used hang around with when I was in bands and going to punk/hardcore shows. I felt he never quite lived up to his potential always thought he could be staple in the top 10-15.

The talk around Fili has always been that he's "talented" and could make a run if he "put it all together." A quick scan of this thread would surely find similar rhetoric.

In reality, he's a mid-level fighter with a fun style; nothing more, nothing less. He's won exactly half of his 24 UFC fights and never beaten a high-level opponent.

Record looks like a checkers board. But he's from my home town and he's entertaining so I always root for him
