This was my girl. Where the f has she been?

Then she's dead to me

raw

LOL!

Our intern's schoolmate jumped off a building 2 days ago & he was watching a video sent to him by the girl.

My conversation with the intern yesterday:

Me: Was she hot?
Intern: She's dead!
Me: You didn't answer the question!

Hm, a lot of people went from being "totes stoked" and "this is shaping up to be a good movie" to "pass". Is it mob mentality or something else?

As a person interested in human psychology, it interests me why exactly. Do we see other peoples posts and start projecting? Is it solely due to black (yet still whitewashed) Val, short haired Thor and the Cate Blanchett photoshop from hell? After many times we were proven that the pics of actors in character clothing mean nothing as to how it actually looks on the big screen (see Hobbit trilogy, Hawkeye, etc) and how much we actually perceive it, are we still so influenced by it? I know for myself, i will probably be distraught by the black girl playing the character that should look like Brooke Shields with waaaaay blonder hair. Why? I'm wired like that, and i can't help it. Does it actually mean this entire movie will suck? Hell no.

We already knew certain parts of Planet Hulk will be incorporated. My prediction is that the lack of Mjolnir and the inclusion of swords probably means Thor is fighting vs Hulk in the arena of the Red King, not Beta Ray Bill or Silver surfer. Or it's a dream Thor has. Does it really matter that much? Even after being bombarded with official and unofficial pics and poses and set shots and whatnot, we've only seen snippets of what the actual movie will look like. Let's wait and see the movie.

If it sucks, i'll be the first one handing out torches and pitchforks.

If it doesn't, well good for everyone.

Maybe they'll use the cool story where Thor died and went to Hela, and in order to get out, he made a deal to impregnate Hela, with a child. He then takes his child and forces Valkryie to raise him as her own for years, and then Asgard was invaded and left to ruin with Ragnarok, Thor in his last attempt to save his Hela born child (now a kid), shoved him into Yggdrasil, where it would lead to nowhere and everywhere, but he would be kept safe from the invasion, his parting gift to his son, to guide his way,
...Mjolnir

Nope not joking

But thor wouldn't possibly be...

oh, but

oh, that's not...

Yup, Ultimate Thor was the best.

I've been sour on this movie since I found out Ragnarok was code for Planet Hulk, but nobody with a pair of working eyes can look at those photos and think this movie has a snowball's chance in Muspelheim of being good.

Why would you base the movie off of a cheesy Entertainment Weekly cover?

Valkyrie has a retarded origin story and cheesy costume in the comics, so changing things up isn't a bad idea. I'm not sure why some in here are throwing a hissy fit over that. Do you want someone who looks like a Swedish serving wench on the screen with her metallic Madonna bra and shitty origin story?

Where is Hela's helmet? It's one of her defining features. That picture makes her look like some sort of goth cosplayer. Why isn't Grandmaster blue, and instead a dude with guyliner and some spray paint on his lip? I don't think it looks that bad, but I think it would come off much better if he was blue. Oh well, at least we know he goes to he same hair stylist as the Collector.

Yes. Because then at least she'd look like a fucking Valkyrie. Athletic and EXplosive Asgardians remind me of an appalling bad TV movie called The Norsemen. It starred - if that's the right word - Lee Majors, who led a Viking expidition to America. One of the characters was an African tribesman who had been captured in a raid and who had so impressed the Norsemen with his courage and fighting ability they freed him and allowed him to go a-Viking with them.:rolleyes:

I had no problem with Sam Jackson playing Fury, because Ultimate Fury is black and it's Samuel L Motherfuckin' Jackson. But a Black Valkyrie is as retarded as a White Shaft.

While many of us wanted a proper Planet Hulk movie (and World war Hulk sequel), the official word was that there would be no solo Hulk movies for the time being, despite Hulk being one of the better fleshed out characters (ever since Avengers 1). We've had time to make peace with that. That said, i doubt Ragnarok is Planet Hulk (some weird Planet hulk with Grandmaster instead of Red King), bcs there are many things that suggest otherwise. HobOdin, Surtur, Skurge, Hela, Valkyrie etc. There are other set photos that have Thor with longer hair. My take is that the Planet Hulk elements will be within this movie for no more than 15-20 minutes, giving it plenty of time for actual Ragnarok. The other parts of the Planet Hulk storyline (e.g. how Hulk ended up there, and how it got resolved, will be mentioned in Avengers 3 or more probably Avengers 4, through a flashback or some other BS like that). While i'm writing this, i just realized 15-20 minutes is a lot to take from a movie for some elements that are not important for a Ragnarok storyline, even if those 15-20 minutes are spent on one of the greater Hulk storylines. We still have the animated movie, for what it's worth.

On a sidenote, i just figured i don't read @Dragonlordxxxxx 's post that carefully, because the short hair and black Valkyrie have been mentioned as far as May 2016. Facepalming on myself... In my defense, a photo is worth a thousand words.

As for Valkyrie, I'd be happy if Valkyrie looked like a Valkyrie. Not a lot to ask, imo.

Valkyrie are spirits, so they could look like anything. Also, they were pretty damn sinister beings. If they want to add a tiny bit of diversity with someone who isn't a major character, then I don't have a problem. It looks like you're simply looking for any reason to hate on the movie. Why go into a movie wanting to hate it and look for any asinine reason to do so? It could suck, but Thor with short hair, a black Valkyrie, white Grandmaster, and Hulk thrown in aren't reasons to automatically assume it will suck. It has quality actors and a director whose movies have good ratings.

Claire Forlani guest starred in Hawaii 5-0 a bunch of times and she looked terrible. And it's not because she's 44 (there are a lot of attractive 44 year old actresses that have aged gracefully), there's just something very peculiar with how she looks now.

Then she's dead to me

lol

The picture of Bruce Banner meeting Thor in the Legoland dressing room, and he and "Valkyrie" eating lunch in the Legoland cafeteria suggests this will be more than a 20 minute part of the movie.

Tessa Thompson Rumored to Play Valkyrie in THOR: RAGNAROK

Tessa-Thompson-Valkyrie-1-Dragonlord.jpg

In addition to Chris Hemsworth continuing his role as Thor himself in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi has brought in Mark Ruffalo to play Hulk once again, and Cate Blanchett to take on the role of Hela. Tom Hiddelston will be back as Loki

If the previous rumors are to be believed, Thor will be going through some trials that will see the death of a major character and set the movie's stakes. The final showdown with Hela will feature an army of the dead commanded by the villainess doing battle with good Valkyries from Valhalla and the souls of the righteous fallen, including the dead major character. It turns out the second part of that sentence is quite important.

A few days ago, it was reported that Tessa Thompson (Creed, Dear White People) had joined cast of Thor: Ragnarok, and that Natalie Portman would not be returning to the franchise. According to the original Deadline report, Thompson's character was called "a kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films as well."

Latino Review is reporting that Thompson is playing the MCU version of Valkyrie. In the comics, this character's real name is Brunnhilde, and she is chosen by Odin to lead the Valkyrior, the Asgardians who roam battlefields, and select the honorable dead for Valhalla. The title of Valkyrie just applies to whomever leads the Valkyries though, so we may or may not be seeing her before she takes on said title. Either way, this character aligns with the report, and could very well appear again in Avengers: Infinity War.

We don't get to make up what a Valkyrie is, or what they look like.

Three times nine girls, but one girl rode ahead,
white-skinned under her helmet;
the horses were trembling, from their manes
dew fell into the deep valleys,
hail in the high woods;
good fortune comes to men from there;
all that I saw was hateful to me.[12]

And its not diversity thats a problem, its deliberate, but arbitrary, diversity combined with terrible casting that I have a ish with.

And lol @ giving a fuck if I like this movie or not. I don't want to hate it, I just know I will because its obviously going to suck. You are welcome to enjoy it in spite of it being a p.o.s. movie.

I'm going out on a limb and saying this will be the best Thor film and top 3 in the Marvel cinematic universe based on Taika Waititi's last couple of flix.
Fuck the haters come at me.

It's fiction. You know there's not an actual Asgard with a female warrior with superpowers, right? 1. It's mythology 2. They were spirits in that mythology. 3. It's Marvel's depiction partly of that mythology. The Warriors Three aren't a part of Norse mythology, but Marvel threw them in there. There's a lot of leeway here to choose whatever they want.

I'm just glad I'm not as close-minded as you are. And LMAO that they can't make up things from mythology. What in the hell are you even trying to say? In mythology Thor usually has red hair and a red beard and is married to Sif. Sif was said to have golden hair. Odin wasn't an honorable ruler caring about justice. They weren't trying to just recreate the mythology, but to have their version of it. They changed a number of things from mythology and added a number of things in. It's nice you found a poem where one Valk was white-skinned, but what does that matter? Do you think all of the people in the stories were always the same in every story? Again, Marvel was doing their version of the mythology. They can make up whatever they want, and can change what they had from the comics to the big screen. I can understand if they made noticeable changes to beloved characters people grew up with, but Valkyrie? We're complaining about a black Valkyrie? Why? They never strictly adhered to Norse mythology so why are you complaining about this change and not the millions of other changes?
