I'm just glad I'm not as close-minded as you are. And LMAO that they can't make up things from mythology. What in the hell are you even trying to say? In mythology Thor usually has red hair and a red beard and is married to Sif. Sif was said to have golden hair. Odin wasn't an honorable ruler caring about justice. They weren't trying to just recreate the mythology, but to have their version of it. They changed a number of things from mythology and added a number of things in. It's nice you found a poem where one Valk was white-skinned, but what does that matter? Do you think all of the people in the stories were always the same in every story? Again, Marvel was doing their version of the mythology. They can make up whatever they want, and can change what they had from the comics to the big screen. I can understand if they made noticeable changes to beloved characters people grew up with, but Valkyrie? We're complaining about a black Valkyrie? Why? They never strictly adhered to Norse mythology so why are you complaining about this change and not the millions of other changes?
How many times did you see Monster Truck Mr. Opeminded?

Was previously looking forward to this a lot more than I am now.

If you haven't noticed we're complaining about a lot of things. Valkyrie is just the one you latched onto. If it were up to me I wouldn't have cast one as a main character in the movie, but Marvel is determined to make women the heroes in Thor movies for some reason. And when I say we can't just make up what a Valkyrie is, that was directed at your description of them as spirits that can look like anything when they're clearly described as women. And as for Norse Mythology, I've read much of the Poetic Eddas. I'm more concerned with the comic adaptation which has failed hard so far and appears to make zero effort to right the ship with this third installment.

What the hell? Thor is probably my favorite character in Marvel. They nailed his arrogance and his willingness to throw down with the strongest in the earlier showings. I hope they still use that with SOME comedy thrown in, but to go full Hemsworth in Ghostbusters, then it'll be disappointing to me even if done well, it won't feel like "Thor". Give me the damn God of Thunder, not the King of Comedy!
seems like we got a preview of "funny thor" in those roommate skits he's done where he's the bad roommate. wonder if his funny moments in the movie are in a similar vein?

i hope so. more so hopefully like the 1st skit, where he was unintentionally funny.

I don't want to always have to bring the negativity, but this PC crap has got to stop.

I'll give them this: they have cojones. Short haired, spartan sword wielding Thor? OK, i guess. Absurdly looking Hela with a black eye? What to do?

I'm not promoting truthfulness to the comics (mostly because i didn't have that much access to original Thor comics, but a black Valkyrie? Heimdall gets a pass, not because it's Elba, but because the character almost always has a helmet, and is of dark(ish) skin. But Valkyrie?? You have got to be kidding me. To (mis)quote Eddie Murphy: You look up "white woman" in the dictionary, be a picture of Valkyrie like this:

Also, shinguards on Thor? The Norse gods are laughing in your face, you maniacs.

But yeah, the official pics in poses look far worse then they do in the movies, so there's that, i guess.

I get your points and I think you are right.

But hey I'm down with total change.. but that casting choice it's so so bad, I can't believe it for a second, hope I'm wrong when I see the movie.

Plot Details for THOR: RAGNAROK Explains Thor's Short Hair, Loss of Hammer and More

Once Thor and Hulk unite, Ragnarok becomes a sort of road-trip film, with director Taika Waititi drawing inspiration from movies like 48 HRS., Withnail and I, and even Planes, Trains and Automobiles. The director particularly wanted to show off Hemsworth’s comedic abilities, only recently exploited in films like Vacation and Ghostbusters. “He’s so good and underutilized in that department,” Waititi says. “He’s legitimately one of the funniest things in this film.”

Thor: Ragnarok: Why does Thor have short hair? Where's his hammer? The plot revealed!
Lol is it too early to call Thor 3 as the worst of the franchise??

As long as he's not ridiculously depowered like in the avengers movies I'll be happy.

Zero. There's a lot of movies I haven't seen. What's your point?
So you just haven't gotten around to Monster Truck yet? Patiently waiting for it to drop on Netflix?

I'm slow on watching new movies. I've only seen 3 movies from 2016 and Monster Truck isn't near the top of the list to watch. I don't care for the director, the cast isn't that appealing, the premise seems dumb as shit, the trailer didn't look good, and it has low ratings. I'd still give the movie a chance, but I'm doubtful I'd ever bother watching it. Ain't nobody got time for all that.

All will be explained here:

The real reason I haven't watched Monster Trucks is that my brain can't comprehend that level of awesomeness.

So they turned Thor into a hipster?....oh 2017 you.

How could I have be do wrong, so quick to judge; this movie sounds AMAZING!!!!

Funny Thor? Pfffft GENIUS!
And by the sounds of it, he's not even the funniest part!!! YES!

I'm down for 2.5 hours of Hemsworth improvising his lines.
