I'm a big Bale fan, but it's going to be interesting how they film the 6 ft tall actor next to the much taller Hemsworth. Maybe they won't need to though. I suppose he'll look pretty gigantic next to 5' 3" Nat though. They can always do camera tricks like they did with Gandolph & the hobbits. it's just a curiosity.Update: December 10, 2020

The highly-anticipated Taika Waititi-directed Thor: Love and Thunder received a thunderous reaction when it was announced at SDCC 2019. Well, we hope you’re sitting because we have a new development of epic proportions from Kevin Feige, president, Marvel Studios, and chief creative officer, Marvel, from The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day.
With Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) returning to their roles, they will be joined by Christian Bale, who will portray the villain Gorr the God Butcher.
The fourth film in the Thor franchise, Waititi previously revealed, "When we were shooting Ragnarok, I was reading one storyline by Jason Aaron, called THE MIGHTY THOR. And for those of you that don't know that storyline, it's incredible and full of emotion and love and thunder. And it introduces, for the first time, a female Thor,” confirming that Jane Foster, played by Portman, will become the Mighty Thor, Goddess of Thunder.

I didn't realize a 3" difference means one is much taller than the other.
I just used a square against the wall to show where the top of my head was. I then measured down 3" to see where that lands on my face. It's the bottom of my eyes. So put them face to face & the top of Bale's head is eye level to Thor.
I get what your saying about being underwhelming as a shorter villain, but it worked fine in Dark Knight rises. Tom Hardy is 5'9" and Christian Bale is 6'0". The 3 inch difference made no difference in the film. They can easily have a shorter person stand on a block and make them look taller.
I thought I covered that when I talked about doing scenes a certain way or film tricks n stuff, but it's an interesting convo. Those 2 don't look 3" different in height in the picture you showed but if they are, they've done some camera tricks. That was one of the points I made in my initial statement. So I think we're saying the same thing, but I just made more of a point that 3" smaller without those tricks is a harder sell for a villian that will need to be addressed.
