This thread is not a rebel thread, this thread is Cerrone Bloody Cerrone

thanks for getting us back on track @LindyBrah and @Eat My Teep

Tony Ferguson-
Best win, was it RDA? That would be my pick but I can't recall if that was his biggest fight? I know it was a war and that Ferguson showed dominance in the latter part of the fight, when he had to have those rounds.

Worst- most are going to say against Gaethje but I have to say it was the Chandler fight. He's on a 3 fight skid, he needs it desperately, he might have won a very tough first round. Walks out for the second and Whammo front kick posterizing knockout that likely ends any and all hope for title contention.............That makes it my pick

I came up with this name after randomly mashing the buttons on a PS2 controller playing Final Fantasy 9. To me it looked like Meh-jee-tas and I thought that sounded cool, especially with the capital A for some reason haha. I’m a gamer nerd if you can tell from my avatar.

Rampage:

Best: The second fight with Liddell when he won the UFC belt.

Worst: Getting dominated by Ryan Bader in Japan after blowing off his weight cut.

I’ll obviously omit the Fedor fight when he showed up as a 260 pound slob.

Mirko Filipović
Best - Wand 2
Worst - JDS. Broken fight spirit. Tapped

Best - Ping 1
Worst - Ping 2 (begging of the end) Polish Power (knocked out twice pretty much, damage)

Remy Bonjasky
Best - Badr Hari 1 (one if the best fights in k1 history vs a prime badr)
Worst - Badr Hari 2 (took the DQ win). Vs that fat big wreslter guy (split decision vs a noob, he didn't train split with his trainer, looked weak), Shilt (to this day I believe Sammy paid him off, maybe it's just style / body type)

GREAT POST....You clearly have the fight historian thing down.....but I'm gonna nitpick ya and say there can only be 1 best and 1 worst.....choosing just 1 is what makes this exercise hard ...But I am seriously impressed by your work above..Sherespect! or is it Sherspect! ?

Nick Diaz surviving Paul Daley's semtex filled fist and then getting back to his feet and finishing Daley with superior angles and cardio.

Then...Nick Diaz showing up to fight Robbie, can't make 170 so changed it to 185 the week of, and then kneeling down like a school yard bully who got popped in the face.

Not that Nick didn't do it to himself, but fuck the athletic commissions and the way they nuked his last years he could fight over weed.
I still don't see why this isn't brought up more. It ruined the man's career and life. It's a real tragedy.

If you become a fan of a fighter (or band) you will experience their glorious best and their absolute worst.

I'm asking you to pick a fighter and name their best fight and their worst. If you want to get really specific you can pick best round or best moment versus worst round or moment. I'd also love to hear your reasoning for each pick.....

Here I'll show you mine-

For Cerrone I'd say his Eddie Alvarez fight was his best. It showed his resilience, adaptability and fight IQ. In it he turns away an interloping viable top contender from a different organization that nobody was sure wouldn't steamroll him as the UFC gatekeeper. I liken it to the sublime U2 Live at Red Rocks: Under a Blood Red Sky, which is the equivalent of meeting your family and best mates for the perfect pint of Guinness at your favorite pub

And his worst would be the McGregor fight which showed he was completely cracked and that a few shoulder strikes could put him out on main street in Wobblytown. I liken this to Zooropa which is the equivalent of the toxic squirts I'd produce after a night of cheap tequila and taco bell.

I don't think Zooropa is all that terrible.

May have already been mentioned, but Wonderboy.

His worst moment was against Belal. We all saw his TDD fail against Burns, but a lot of people thought surely it's still good enough for the "mediocre" Muhammad? After all, Durinho is a stocky little powerhouse and former title challenger. Belal is just... Belal. Then we watched Thompson get taken down and mauled. He nearly got TKO'd in the first round: Belal controlling his back, raining down punches on a shelled-up Wonderboy who was saved by the bell. Thompson having desperately to defend submission attempts. Dude got smothered and stifled in a way that made it clear he would never be competitive with any remotely competent grappler ever again.

But, at the opposite end of the spectrum... I can't forget his masterclasses on the feet. It's hard to pick just one. I won't use the Holland fight as tempting as it is because Kevin rocked him and also broke his hand. I think it's better to go back further...

Well, I can do Mirko then.
His best being that night when he murdered both Wand and Barnett (hard night for me because those three are my all time favourite fighters).
His worst being getting ko’d by Gonzaga’s high kick.
Oh well, at least I got to see him murder Gonzaga later as well. Not that it mattered much at that point.
Gonzaga loss was brutal and heartbreaking, but Mirko’s lowest point by far was getting stopped by Brendan Schaub.

<DCrying>

Way back time machine on a maybe forgotten fighter. Amir Sadollah -TUF 7 winner. No pro fights before TUF and had to go through some pretty decent guys to make the finale.
TUF 7 Finale Armbars CB Dolloway (again)

2nd UFC fight Gets KO by Johny Hendricks

Rather brief career as well.

Maybe. But it had much less impact. Both were bad for sure.

Hendo at his best was when he beat Wand to gain his second belt. He had the KO with his left hand and used wrestling to wear Wand out and win rounds. It was before he really become one dimensional like he ended his career.

Worst was Cormier. My god I just wanted that to end. Most guys would have turtled and the fight would have been over in a few minutes, but Hendo just kept going getting tossed like a rag doll. Tough to watch.

Hendo vs Cormier was fucking shocking.

The biggest dominance I’ve ever seen when two Elites match up.

Glover Teixeira

Best - has to be against Jan for the belt. Jan was finally getting respect as champion. He blasted through Reyes who was to many the uncrowned champion. Then Jan beat Izzy standing and on the ground in a fight where I feel like management was expecting Izzy to become double champ and Jan ruined those plans. He was truly on a roll. Good stuff, but then here comes Glover in his 40s completely big brothering Jan standing and on the ground. He fought the perfect fight and looked great finally capturing UFC gold. Awesome feel good story to me.

Worst - against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (Rest in peace). I don’t need to say a lot. I love Glover’s fearlessness but his willingness to just be the aggressor and exchange against Rumble was ill advised. 13 seconds was all it took for Rumble to knock him out. Good thing I was a big fan of both because that was rough to watch.

Shogun: too many epic highs to even choose. Winning the GP? Winning the UFC belt by knockout? Having one of the best fights of all time against Hendo?

And then.....getting tapped out by Chael in one round....
