I haven't always felt this way until very recently. The new layout and 2 step verification thing has really left this place a barren wasteland of shite. There are still a few quality posters, but the people I actually liked hearing from and conversating (as Christopher Wallace would say) with are mostly gone. Pretty much all the new posters who aren't banned from 2018 or so on suck balls. Their threads are just pure cringe. I'm not sure this is just me hating on the younger generation or what? I check in periodically, hoping for quality threads that are either thought-provoking or entertaining and I get none of that.

Anyway, with the next generation of Sherdoggers leaving this place a rotting, festering corpse of the place I used to enjoy, the "Sherdog is dying" meme is truly playing out.

Part of me wants to commit E-suicide by posting some epic pr0n, but I'll refrain from doing so because even though this place is rubbish, I'm holding on for tomorrow.

Note: I'm only really talking about The Mayberry, as this is the last bastion of Sherdog that I peruse.

i really think a big issue is mma in general. it's in a huge rut. the ufc desperately need stars and people to get interested again to build an audience seeking to talk about the sport and extra-curricular topics like in this forum. that's how i found sherdog and ended up here. wanted to talk about the sylvia vs. monson fight, and found a thread talking about it on sherdog and here i am haha.

Seeing as this is in Mayberry I'll talk about UFC a wee bit. I haven't watched it in years, I even had to text a Sherbro who doesn't even post here anymore about Strickland having a chance being I despise him.

I think a lot of old Mayberrians are dropping off, there are a few we miss but it's a revolving door. I don't recall why I came back but I still posted sporadically anyway so I'm not the OP with "guess I should suicide" like a blithering nancy who can't keep control of his/her senses.

Good, because no one here noticed you were gone and barely anyone noticed when you came back. Even if you made 100,000 posts they are mostly treated like the spam folder of sherdog.

But I do agree, forums have been a dying thing for a while. Except for Reddit I guess, which if people think this layout is bad, Reddit is the absolute worst.

Seems we have a lot of older millennials and Gen xers holding on.

Just like the UFC, linear reply format discussion forums like this one are almost completely dead. I also wouldn't say Reddit has much of anything in common with this type of forum.

This type of forum is designed for and effectively creates conversational, topic based discussion, while Reddit is just like every other social media platform. They all follow a post and reaction model with a very heavy social agenda conformity bias. They are intentionally designed to prohibit discussion, replying to someone else's reaction is pointless.
