This Place Absolutely Sucks Now

Probably attrition. Casual users of the forum aren't that engaged, so if you make life harder for them they just lose the habit of visiting. The forum goes down for an unreasonably long maintenance, you add overly intrusive ads, you announce something like 2FA that no one wants and leave it up in the air for weeks, you fuck up the layout and leave it like that for a month, etc, these are all actions (or rather inaction) that lead to loss of users on long run.

I have to admit I have just lost interest in the UFC as of late. The changes on this site aren't really the main factor in me posting less

The UFC just doesn't feel as exciting anymore. PPVs are just full of people I don't care about or don't know altogether. I still watch RIZIN and Sumo but that's about it

I called this pretty damn spot on when they announced the 2fa.

I get the whole:
"it's not a big deal,
people are being babies about 2fa, etc"

But that perspective is just painfully naive to the reality of the situation.

Forums are a dying thing.
They peaked probably 15-20 years ago.
This is a world of sweeping paradigm shifting change.
So it was just a monumentally retarded idea to do something that everyone knew was going to piss off the old stubborn dinosaurs which are the primary traffic of this old ass interweb karate forum.

i really think a big issue is mma in general. it's in a huge rut. the ufc desperately need stars and people to get interested again to build an audience seeking to talk about the sport and extra-curricular topics like in this forum. that's how i found sherdog and ended up here. wanted to talk about the sylvia vs. monson fight, and found a thread talking about it on sherdog and here i am haha.

I vehemently agree, brother! There was a time I watched ALL the fights on ALL the cards. Honestly, I only watched the last 2 fights on the latest PPV. There have been PPVs that I completely forgot about and missed, something that would never happen in the past.

As for this place, yes there maybe less members/posters because of all the changes that happen, but it is virtually the same place. If you want to post something go ahead, you want to respond go ahead. Same approach really nothing much change in that regards.

Although, I feel we have newer blood in here to with newer accounts. Well I assume they are new. lol

To me it's not that big a deal, because this place is an outlet for me to share my thoughts and converse with people I probably never meet, that I talk about all kinds of topics.

So just stop dwelling on the negatives and just look at the positives. You are still ticking, this place is still going, just enjoy your time in here. It maybe different but so what. I'm use to the changes by now. You just got to adapt.

I was kind of just kidding about the E-suicide thing. And to be honest, I feel you're one of the better posters here. It's just there are SO MANY terrible threads from the Tik Tok generation about nonsense or being a wuss. I can't ignore how terrible this place has become. By nature, I'm a pessimist and will dwell on the worse aspect over the positive. Sometime I wish I was more optimistic, but what it is is what it is.

Maybe, but just a few weeks/months ago, I was still enjoying my time here. It's like it totally drove off a cliff about a month ago. But yeah, the quality posters have left through attrition/banning and have not been replaced by similar posters.

There is nothing to salute or desaulte him for. He had nothing to do with it. None of us did. That's a common misconception here.

The forum layout, Xenforo upgrades, 2FA etc. us mods and admins have no control over these things. We can't turn it on or off. This is done by tech admin (not the ones you see posting here), who follow instructions from the site owners.
