Delirious and Raw are top 10 ever sets. I juat prefer Robin and Pryors early 80s sets more . Crazy how most the greatest comic sets came in that 5 year stretch.

I think they’re remembered for being in a time and place. Context is important when viewing those specials.


It’s easy to look at everything that’s been done since if you weren’t there for it in real time and say ‘it’s aged’ or ‘what’s the big deal’.. but those specials were unique and limitless a the time they came out. Eddie was crafting vulgarity into an art form and adding to what guys like Pryor and Carlin had done before him.


I can personally still watch those specials and crack up at them. They take me back in a way like a good album that returns you to your youth.


Eddie achieved heights of fame and stardom that were previously almost unattainable before for a stand up. He was comedy’s ‘Nirvana’ and was legitimately one of the biggest stars on the planet in his prime.
