This is why I stick to heavy lifting instead of cardio.

Dudes always try and invent some super hero construction worker for these discussions
Nah. It's just a fact that most people who never worked construction are gonna be utterly useless at it for the first weeks or months. It's a bit like fighting, really - if you don't know how to apply your bodyweight and leverage, you're gonna suck at it. Plus, if your endurance is shit, someone will have to carry you to a bench 15-30 minutes in. I can do that, just be warned that if you start squirming around while I do so, I'm either gonna put a jaw lock on or drop you head first.
As for the average construction worker in the gym, he won't approach your shoulder press, but he'll probably not be that far off your 435 lbs deadlift, and most likely will beat you at farmer's carries.

Lol. He’s not beating me at farmers carries buddy. I take that lift very fucking seriously

He’s gonna carry two 140 pound dumb bells 100 feet and back?

If he regularly does the builder's walk - two full beer crates (= 44 kg) stacked back to back in each hand -, I would bet on him.

bro like some of those construction worker types are big motherfuckers. No one’s disagreeing with you there

That’s like a firefighter or a 6’2 250 dude who’s a much better athlete then me

I’m not saying I’m the strongest guy ever. I’m saying hand a wiry 170 pound construction worker two 140 pound dumb bells (not trap… that’s a pedestrian lift) and see what happens

Dude also thats barely 100 pounds in each hand lol. The fuck? That’s pussy weight

I said 140 pound dumb bell each hand

I'd read different versions; some put the weight at 205, others at around 250.

Either way it proves that how much ya Bench has little connection to fighting ability.
He's already got the programming down. Do 1 rep, then go sit down for a while.

Fair points and I was being a dick with that last post

Yeah it’s all about exposure time. For instance working up to 225 OHP? Medium risk.. spend most of your time in the 185-205 range

245? High risk.. now you aren’t just touching that elite 205-225 range.. you’re living in that shit.

My plan is to go up to 230.. petty as fuck, I know <lol>

Don't get me wrong. What I say to old matey might come off as harsh, but we have done this thread about 3 times now.
I have been nice, mean and even just ignored him whilst bringing up his trolling history on other forums. He isn't hard to find with his AV.

I reckon 225 is respectable for most. Anything after that I would rather do as a jerk and build some real power.

Yeah according to strength standards 225 is like a 335 bench. That feels right to me.. but it seems really rare as far as real life and/or online PRs..

I think it’s cause most lifters train bench as their compound push
