They don’t make fighters like Carlos “The Albuquerque Assassin” Conduit anymore….sadly.

Equally skilled on the feet as on the ground.

Unreal finish rate in his Prime.

Always exciting fights.

Now we got guys like Belal “whats his name”
and Merab “Smoke Break” Guidashilli….*yawn*

Guess Dricus is the closest to what Conduit brought to the table but still not the same.
Decent off his back but couldn't wrestle for shit.

Pretty exciting tho, and I thought he won the title against Lawler but got robbed, I bet money on him that fight, I was fucken pissed.

I'll never forget when I got a big group of college friends to get together for a UFC night.
I convinced them that this event would show them why I loved MMA so much.
We got food, drinks, probably around 20+ people watching on a big ass TV.

I GUARANTEED them this would be a banger fight.
It was Nick Diaz vs Carlos Condit. Everyone watched in silence as Carlos ran for 5 rounds and pitter pattered leg kicks.

I'll never forgive you for this, Carlos

That was the last time I remember having people over for a UFC and hyping it up as "guaranteed violence between two fighters that care more about hurting their opponent then winning" and proceeded to watch Condit use the Greg Jackson game-plan....smart, but made for such a dull main event and I felt like I sold wolf tickets.

Yeah skilled on the ground sure but couldn't defend a takedown to save his life.

Carlos is not hanging at all with the current crop of WW's.

He could hang with JDM, Giblert, Mahcado, or Buck. This the man who made GSP do the stanky leg with a headkick. You’re right though about the wrasslers. Belal and Brady would put the wood to him.

Guys comfortable on their backs were unfortunately susceptible to losing wrestle-fuck decisions to strong position wrestlers who would just ride and control them, while not doing damage. Unfortunate for him that one can strategically get rewarded for that vs when the fighter on his back wants to finish, on feet, by submission, like Condit was.

One of my top few favorite fighters ever.

Every time the Condit-Diaz fight gets brought up, I'm not sure if I should get my head checked or start slapping people en masse. Not only is almost any "robbery" talk born out of salty bias, but a lot of the hate is completely uncalled for.

While, for sure, Condit always made sure he was up on points, he certainly didn't fight "safely" past that. He would edge out Diaz in the striking until he was comfortably ahead enough in order to try the high-risk high-impact stuff that has led to finishes for him before. The problem was that none of them succeeded, resulted in Nick getting points because of those risks, so Condit would have to try and regain points again to win.

And that's not even touching how low-IQ Diaz fans (excuse the reduncancy) think that he is allowed to take his slow ass approach in every single fight, and it's everyone else's fault for not letting him do it, when the truth is, Diaz didn't do a goddamned aggessive thing that fight except inch forward in his usual "the most theoretically dangerous snail" tactics. He throws punches when someone gets close, but that's about it. He doesn't use any type of closing distance strategies, he doesn't cut off the cage, he doesn't try to bait in attacks, he doesn't put a lot of grappling pressure on to open up his striking. Him being praised as if he had any "aggression" in that fight is like saying Barber's striking was aggressive against Grasso. You actually have to throw strikes at the opponent to hit them

I was a massive WEC fan boy and I LOVED Carlos Condit. It was like a kid on Christmas whenever he was on a card.

I think around when Condit fought Nick Diaz though he didn't feel like the same guy. Became more calculated but just wasn't as fun anymore.

Still was a very cool fighter to watch.

He has 22 first round finishes.
7 in the first minute.
Glad he went back to being a barista oh wait I forgot he quit that too lol.

His recorded was well padded to try and draw in the metrosexual and legbtqi plus fans and it worked to a certain extent. Once he was exposed as a pitter patter puncher by the more elite fighters the game was up and he had to go back to his former career as a barista and male model.

Lol what a shitty hot take

Very well rounded fighter for his time who generally always came to kill or be killed. Extremely high finishing rate.

The Diaz fight put him in a rough light which is unfair. Overall his career was exciting as hell. Hope Carlos doing well.

He’d still be a top 10 WW today no trouble. Might have issues with Belal and other offensive wrestlers.

Condit was fun as hell to watch

Solid with the striking, solid on the ground too

His only flaw was that he was absolutly shit with his wrestling, and it was exposed a couple of time

Still, he gave us a couple of really good fights. His master piece will remain his fight with Lawler tho. What a war

A war that Carlos won
