Crime These soft judges need to be held accountable

Link is sentencing guidelines. A multiple time violent offender doing serious bodily harm isn't even supposed to be a candidate for reduced charges, and this isn't exclusive to Cleveland, but reducing charges generally means a sentence on the higher end for the reduced charges, but even that would be 6 months per charge, and she reduced the charges AND gave him the lowest sentence for the reduced charges with no time for what was multiple felony assault charges.

I'm not an intern. Highlight where this judge had a choice and chose to let this animal go.

everyone else can see these freaks. “Show me a source”

*many sources providned*

“Rheeeee”

*rinse and repeast*

I just assume alll of these are @Sinister alt accounts with the psychosis and schizophrenia
Rent free in your head

Im just gonna address the elephant in the room. Black judge, Black defendant, White victims. Why is anyone surprised.

ALL judges should be more strict, bunch of liberal p*SSy judges!

(Except, of course, for the judges hearing the election cases, the Jan 6th cases, 2nd amendment cases, or any Trump rape case. Not those judges, though.)

If he was able to plead down to misdemeanors then the prosecution isn’t catching enough heat.

It’s an elected urbanist judge so I’m sure she is terrible, but it’s likely the elected DA office takes a laissez faire approach to violent crime as well and offered a sweetheart deal to begin with.

The victims from the story act like the prosecutors were shocked by the time served sentence, but a judge doesn’t create plea bargains and people mostly don’t serve serious time for misdemeanors.

It was the “shocked” prosecution that downgraded his charges so they can quickly close the books on his case. So I can’t imagine they were expecting him to remain in jail for any significant time as he was already in there for a couple of months. They just don’t like the immediate release. They would probably feel Justice was served if he stayed locked up a few more days.

Everyone feeling sorry for the criminals but not feeling sorry for FUTURE victims

I already know all the liberals will side with the judge here

The government's main function is to PROTECT the citizens that are funding it. What do you do when the government doesn't do its primary function?

I spent my entire career dealing with Cleveland shitbags. They are a special kind of turd. I spent so much time reading triple I’s (criminal history) and was shocked how many times they had been arrested for serious shit and they never seemed to get time. I am talking six months for an armed robbery or shooting someone. It’s a joke. And judges should be held accountable for such lenient sentences but they have judicial immunity that leaves them blameless

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. Was this judge unable to sentence this animal to a harsher sentence? Did the judge have to let him walk?

No. She didn’t have to drop the felonies but chose to do so.

One victim was black-ish. More of a redhead black guy. No idiea about the third victim. I am sure his history was probably pretty extensive as well. I agree with @Crazy Source in that i want to see that the prosecutor doesn’t share in the blame for allowing the felonies to be dismissed and the weak ass sentence. It was a bench trial. I assume the victims either testified or had some say in the case, but if I was the victim, I would insist on being there and want to give an impact statement. Whoever is to blame, mostly the judge for coming back with “time served” which amounts to two months for three felonies is pathetic and a miscarriage of justice.

Ive done a few months in county in Charlotte. There were 300 guys in something that looked like Oz. Keep your fists ready and don't make eye contact. My secret? Find an old black dude that has it clocked and sit at his table.

You asking trumpers to have principles? You're wasting your time

People get light sentences, or just away with shit completely, all the time. Juries, for example, can vote however they want. Our system is built to favor the defense, which is how it should be, but a major downside is that sacks of garbage can and do walk for any number of reasons. Sometimes judges are pieces of shit too and it goes either way with not-so-bad or innocent people getting the hammer, or scum coasting. Imo there's a big fallacy in thinking this is partisan at root (broadly speaking), particularly when we have a for-profit prison system.
I would guess for every "light" sentence in the US, there are probably five excessive sentences (pulling that number out of my ass)

But based on statistics of certain people getting harsher penalties for the same crime, and as you said pay for profit prisons and travesties like Kids For Cash

Our system is far from optimum

It's why I oppose the death penalty. God knows there are plenty of monsters that should be put down, but we just fuck up ya know

IDK why you assume liberals will side with the judge. I am a liberal, and don't know many other liberals who would want this POS walking around free.

yeah man.

Sometimes I hear of certain crimes and think "That mother f*cker needs to d*e"

But if one person was falsely accused and executed, the margin for error is too high, and we know its way more than one.

A campaign strategy for republican politicians since ( I think) the 80s is to suggest liberal (democrats) in the US are softer on crime. It's just become a false stereotype to galvanize specific voters

Who’s softer on crime? Democrats or Republicans?

Did you have to call him daddy? Relax, it was a joke. All I can think of since you said oz was the spoon scene. What were you in county for? Misdemeanor, I hope and not a felony.
