There's nothing that says Max will dominate Kattar

Lol
You're Fukin delusional
Way more logical and likely to be taken as overrated then physically past his prime at 28 Quit being a clown

Fight mileage is inclusive of brain trauma, injuries, length of career etc.

But of course you wouldn't know that since you're a simpleton who can't even spell four letter words correctly, lol.

So I thought the Dustin beating he took had to take a toll. A lot of times these guys are too tough for their own good. The first volk fight disappointed me as I got my brother to get the card and watch it with me (remotely). I was like “dude max is a beast and will piece up this guy.” Wrong. I think the beating Porier put on him at LW did it, but you may be right with Edgar.

I think it is all of the above.

It all adds up. It isn’t just one fight for Max where he got cracked and started to slide, it has been a slow cumulative process. And Max may very well get back to the top. You could make a strong argument that he should be champ right now.

But he needs to learn and adjust to take less blunt force trauma to the head. Just because he is tough and athletic enough to get away with it doesn’t mean that those bombs aren’t building up and potentially leading to his chin cracking or CTE.

Max is a likable dude. I genuinely hope he gets out of the game HEALTHY.

It’s not just the age, it is the mileage. Max has had a bunch of WARS in which he has taken a lot of heavy punches.

Also the lower weight classes are much more dependent on speed and as such guys peak sooner and fall of sooner.

mid 20’s is the peak for 145 and under. You don’t see many champs in their 30s at those lower weight classes.

Semantics on my part
What you said and even what he said above registered and defnibutely makes sense but to say he's past his prime is a bit of misnomer

degenerative is more sensical to me

Thanks

in certain aspects that impact his game i do still think he's a bit overrated and you're only as good as your last fight If he had got the nod against Volk last fight I doubt fools would be coming out of the woodworks and saying he's 'past his prime'

Really tough to call. I think if Max comes to box, there's definitely a good chance Kattar bangs him out. But I do think Max is a more complete fighter, so fighting from the outside with kicks/clinching when necessary to negate the more polished orthodox boxing style of Kattar, could be a path to victory over 5 rounds. Pretty stoked for this fight!

That’s false.

Volk is 32
Cejudo is 32
Figueiredo is 33

Hmm, I expect Max to win since he's fought better competition and has more experience in five round fights. He's also younger than Kattar by a few years.

But I see your point. Kattar has lost before but usually to good kickers. Max has good kicks but he's not really a kicker, he relies mainly on his hands. So stylistically they play into each other's strengths.

Max ate like 120+ leg kicks in his last two fights alone, so I'd say him and Kattar have quite a lot in common.

Max too slick with to many weapons. Kattar is really dope but he basically has one entry he uses to
set everything up. He’s great at it but a guy at Max’s level is gonna sus that out no problem.

And what entry would that be? I've seen him set his jab up with at least five different set ups, and that's just the jab.

Exactly A guy with feet like that doesn't just have one entry lol

Best feet in the entire promotion as far as I'm concerned

Rose is a moderate 2nd

Not to mention kattar spends a decent amount of time switching between orthodox and southpaw, so I'm really uncertain how he could have only one entry. Max can definitely win this fight, but he's gotta stick and move and make calvin chase him in my opinion.

not rocket science but that jab of his is going to the decider here for Kattar It's also one of the best and Max isn't much of a kicker

boggles my mind that his primary strength or the one that initially got him here was wrestling

I don't think I've ever seen him use it to be honest except for some escapes here and there

I'm looking for the big upset and he just may make it look easy

I like this match up for kattar with his slick boxing and max' ability to get hit, but in a 5 rounder I see max out doing him with cardio and getting it done

Close fight, but I got Max by cardio/veteran experience and iron chin

OP might be right. I just know that if Max does dominate him, not many will be surprised. But if Calvin dominates Max? Lotsa surprise.

Forgot to mention/worth mentioning that Max has stopped sparring (so he says) and I think that's been the norm since mini stroke or was it Covid I can't remember so he has made a concerted effort to stop the wear and tear as much as possible

I'm a Max fan but Kattar might be a problem for him, Kattar has the same reach as Poirier and while he probably doesn't have the same power (f=ma) he can still potentially crack Max hard enough from far enough away.
Merry Christmas
