There was no wave of compassion when addicts were hooked on crack

uhhhh the crack baby myth was 100% during the reagan admin. How is that not vilifying the people? just say no from Nancy was an absolute complete shit show of a failure as was reagan's zero tolerance. Reagan has people throughout his admin convicted during the iran contra affair. While there may not be proof of Reagan or his advisors saying "hey guys, I used drugs in black communities to vilify them", you'd have to be an absolute idiot to not connect dots. But you are an absolute idiot, so ho hum, no idea why I'm wasting my time.

But yes, congrats, I conflated reagan and nixon. Sorry, I get shithead, corrupt, awful presidents confused sometimes.

so again no proof just because you say so
you are writing fiction
gtfo

homework: do research, get supporting evidence, then make a claim in a post here. until then you are just a joke.

Does anyone have a reliable number on what percentage of current opioid abusers started due to legitimate prescriptions from their doctor?

I don't feel compassion for junkies period. No matter what they are addicted to.

news is old and obvious. people in the reagan administration even admit to using crack to vilify the community.

This is bullshit. The Reagan Administration acknowledged that funds from cocaine smuggling helped fund the Contra rebels, but stated that it was not authorized by the US government or resistance leaders.

What's debatable is that the CIA may have turned a blind eye to Nicaraguan King pin's that imported cocaine into the United States because of this. Somehow this turns into Ronald Reagan directly flooding the streets with crack-cocaine into black neighborhoods.

Cocaine was everywhere in the 80's. What happened was somebody figured out that if you mix it with water and baking soda then heat it up you can sell it in smaller doses and increase your profit. Buying drugs in smaller/cheaper portions is something that's going to be more successful in poor neighborhoods.

Lol people defending Reagan and his 140 administration officials being convicted of corruption, indicted, or investigated for misconduct or criminal violation.

Ronald Regan was the poster boy for "evil empire" and left a wake of destruction this country will never recover from.

Im gonna let you in on a little secret..........politicians are corrupt.

I'd like to think that it's because people in general have softened their approach to addiction and recognized that treatment is the best course of action, and that this is what's responsible for the contrast between then and now, but who knows?

Here's one on the Nixon administration. http://www.vox.com/2016/3/22/11278760/war-on-drugs-racism-nixon

Reagans had the perpetuation of crack baby myth, and staging of drug deals right outside the white house.

Weak

It's possible Ehrlichman wasn't being honest, given that he reportedly felt bitter and betrayed by Nixon after he spent time in prison over the Watergate scandal. Nixon also very much despised drugs, which likely played a role in his policies beyond political goals. And his drug czar, Jerome Jaffe, strongly pushed for treating drugs as a health issue, not solely a criminal matter as Ehrlichman suggested.

Never? . Sounds like u are blaming him for Obama's shortfalls as well.

So he isn't corrupt?

Yes but you were deflecting off of him and spreading it around to all politicians.

I already explained this to you. I wasn't speaking about "all" politicians just one in particular who happened to run the most corrupt administration of all time.

Open research. I'm literally working on this project now.

I can say that ~40% of my study population has had one or more opioids in the study period. This equates to millions of exposures. Even if .001% of legit users go into the spiral, when you get millions of encounters you get thousands of deaths.

There is definitely an iatrogenic issue here but the research is still trying to crack it.

Oh i see you wanted to focus your efforts on ronnies corruption and me saying all politicians are corrupt would disrupt your speech about the degree of his corruption in comparison to others.

So no other politicians are corrupt?
