There is something fishy about the ufc shirts costing $85

I like the 85 dollar price. If they were 60, there would be a small risk I would be dumb enough to pay it.

Lol, I feel the same way.

They are pricing themselves out of the marketplace. They are not the NFL, NBA, or MLB. Those leagues are selling their replica jerseys for $75 or so at their official stores

TS, you must be a pro wrestling fan only because if you follow any real sports, you should know by now that sports jerseys cost that much. The UFC was just trying to do the same thing.

So you are implying that mma is not a real sport? Why are you on an mma forum then?

Professional shirts in Soccer/NFL/NBA/NHL the players actually wear it while performing. These are just crappy shirts with no standards.

Dude, I've bought authentic soccer shirts that are way more badass than this Reebok crap and I bought it for $50! I'm proud of that! And I'm a bigger MMA fan!

Can you source that anyone besides Dynamic Fastener didn't have to pay tax?

That entire post of mine and that's all you got?

Source or no source it doesn't change the fact that sponsors were making out like bandits. Super cheap advertising costs for massive amounts of exposure on Fox networks.

The value of advertising sponsors were getting off the fighters far outweighed whatever they were paying them.

that doesn't mean fighters didn't lose money between the time the tax was imposed and the time the UFC was big enough to attract sponsors who could pay the tax.

So it's alright for sponsors and managers to take advantage of fighters, but it's not alright for the UFC and FOX to protect their own advertising real estate?

I really don't find them to be all that bad. I wouldn't pay $85 for them, but I'm a little surprised how much people hate them. The only thing I "hate" about them is the blank space where sponsors could be. But the general look isn't offensive to me at all.

I think part of it is that people WANT to hate them because of what they represent.

Not me. I

I could go buy a nike or reebok shirt like that and Iron on a fighters name for around 30 bucks.

How long before we see these jersey's in some third world country alongside the "Seahawks back-to-back champs" t-shirts?

Maybe an $85 price tag would be more suitable for a used and unwashed pair of fight shorts from some of the female competitors

wow. You and emjay are two of a kind.

Sorry, but you just don't have a concept of how advertising actually works.

The free-for-all sponsorships were fine when UFC was an emerging sport with few viewers. Those sponsors actually helped to bring exposure to the UFC while it was growing. The shoe is on the other foot now.

UFC is on FOX, the big boys don't play that game.

looks like theyve dropped the price to 80. also the reebok site is pretty messed...selected anderson silva and cain velasquez's page popped up!

It's definitely not a generic shirt. A non-branded shirt like that would easily cost $20-30. It's not some plain cotton T-shirt, it's some kind of synthetic blend... I thought that was pretty obvious.

Not even close. I can buy similar shirts for roughly $8 CAD from several of my wholesalers; and that's list price for my small company. Reebok would obviously get a much better rate.

Cotton T's are still the least expensive, but there are so many options for synthetic shirts nowadays, the cost has come down considerably.

They figure if we're stupid enough to pay $59.99 for garbage ppv's then surely we'll buy $85 for a shirt

lol this!
pretty soon you will drunken shitfucks at events rocking their favorite fighter walkout t-shirts.
I only hope that the 21$ number thrown around doesnt get divvied between all fighters, but all goes to the fighter whose t-shirt was bought.

Start work at Noon.... probably working until the next morning. But points to him for the funny, even though we have nothing to do with the UFC website graphics department.

I am, however, 100% making a Giblert Melendez and Paul Harris jersey for myself.

Hey man, any chance you would be willing to do up two of the Giblerts?
