Cormier and Lesnar being 40 has no bearing on the ability of the division. Heavyweight has always been an older guys division in combat sports, especially MMA.

Old HWs that are not in their primes and not having new blood enter the division has been a problem especially since all these divisions opened up in WMMA and lighter male weight classes. There are not enough prospects nor do you see as many HW fights as you did in the past.

I like both Blaydes and Volkov. But according to sherdog, Blaydes got beat by the most over hyped fighter of all time in Ngannou. But honestly I think both should get the next shots. I dont care which gets it first. But Not Brock.

Fedor, Nogueira, Sylvia, Arlovski, JDS, Velasquez, Barnett, Mir, Rodriguez, and Randleman all became champions in their 20s.

The only exceptions to HW champions gaining their championship in their 20s are Coleman, Mo Smith, Rutten, Couture, Brock, Carwin, Werdum, and Stipe ... So other than Werdum and maybe Stipe, the least accomplished HW champions.
