Just finished watching this one.

I am always down for some Keanu and I also like courtroom dramas, so I figured I'd check it out despite the lukewarm critical reception. While it's certainly not an A-level film, I thought it was entertaining enough for one go-around.

If you don't normally get into courtroom dramas, then you can probably go ahead and skip this one. But if you do tend to enjoy the genre then it might be worth a look.

Keanu gives a good performance, as does Renee Zellweger, who is in amazing shape for someone in her mid-40s.

@MusterX, this is Courtney Hunt's feature follow-up to Frozen River. I'm curious to know what the budget was for this film but can't seem to find that info. Frozen River is actually a more interesting film than this one is, but it is interesting to see how she progressed from making a low-budget film like that one to making something with much bigger star power.

Underrated flick, good courtroom drama

Should have just done the Devils Advocate 2...

People would have actually watched that.

What did you think of the ending?

I found it a bit confusing, and also not consistent with Keanu's character. I just had a hard time believing that he would conspire to kill his friend like that, or even have an affair with his friend's wife for that matter. Not to mention that he just didn't seem like the kind of dude who would be willing to let his friend's son go to prison for a crime that he himself committed.
