Watching some Fights tonight , I realize I love the UFC but I’m going to admit I can’t really think of any recent ufc fights that compare to Fedor and Nogueira or Crocop and Fedor

This fight is one of the craziest fights that I’ve had the privilege of watching. How do you match this fight today bc I just don’t see it. Fedor Nogueira is ridiculous in the dramatics and actual kinetic display….the god ground and pounder VS Brazilian JJ.

Prides presentation gave everything a bigger feel. But tbh in terms of sheer amount of eyes theres a solid chance more people are aware of this weekends fight than were aware of Fedor/Nog and Fedor/Cro Cop 20 years ago. The sport is just much more established and accessible now.

This is the case, imo.

The presentation and promotion was everything.

The promo package for this fight rivals anything I've seen in pro wrestling or MMA. It made it feel personal and like Cro Cop had to do it for his family. For his parents. It made it feel like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders against a guy in Fedor who has his own struggles, but has evolved into a destroyer who watched his brother get KO'd by this guy and punched after he hit the ground.

The fight itself was alright. I say this as a bitter CC fan. Fedor was just better that night and could neutralize what CC had to offer. I wanted more than anything for Mirko to get that belt but I had to accept reality.

UFC is fine with star power. Topuria, Pereria, Khamzat, Dricus , Mak are stars.
Yes its not Conor/Brock/ Ronda level "star" power but that doesn't mean its garbage either .

there are lots of sick fighters that do sick things but the UFC doesn't promote the best guys. There are guys. but the UFC doesn't know how to push em right. Wellmaker for example could be a huge star if they gave him a lot of exposure.

100% and it's not even comparable. there's a bunch of barely people with personalities that retards think are big, that retards think are deserving. they are all no one. modern MMA, combined with social media, is pure garbage, outside of a very few select fights. this is what happens when you abandon rankings, get rid of custom fight shorts, insert jon anik types, and have card after card after card of barely regional level crap. the roster is bloated, like the product, every now and then we get a belch of relief. such as tonight. but after this? long road of garbage ahead, bullshit promotion.
