Media The UFC Heavyweight Division By FAR Worst Male Division in Entire UFC

Probably because the average male isn't that large, so the pool is thinner.
This is true. Furthermore, because large athletes are vetted, groomed and financially incentivized to get into sports like football and basketball.

He fought anyone except Chael and got an entire event cancelled iirc.

Also, I think we all know Tom wants to fight Jon.
We as fans want that fight rather than the Stipe fight which we all see as a joke sir.
Yeah, I wish we had been able to see jones vs sonnen. Match up for the ages, it’s a shame how we missed it.

It's so bad this Tafa fight is nearly unwatchable.
It might be the 2nd worst division in the entire UFC Male or Female (Woman's Bantamweight being the only one worse)

To be honest...part of the problem is most of these guys arent even really HWs..there just non dieting MWs and LHWs...

That said Hws dont need to be as skilled as LWs . .. because power is the ultimate equalizer in fighting , but it could definitely be higher level then it is now.

A true Hw is someone 6'2 to 6'5+ weighing 235-245lbs with 8% to 16% body fat percentage...and thats being generous on the body fat percentage...IMO .. theres just not too many of those guys in the division right now ...

Its a problem...and it probably relates to money

HW in any combat sport is going to have the lower talent pool simply because it's a rarity to be that big.

HW was good in the very beginning just because divisions were new and many fighters picked HW who could have went to LHW and MW.

It's just the way it is. Guys that big and athletic probably found success in more fruitful sports if they were even attracted to sports. Side note, you'd be surprised how many of these big dudes walking around in society are really just teddy bears. A real fight is the last thing on their minds. Their whole life their sheer size made people fear them but the truth is many of them would never engage in a fight. Which is true with most of the population no matter the size. It just so happens that the average man isn't 6'5 and 260lbs. So it is by far the smallest pool to draw from and find someone crazy enough to get in cage and fight for a living. It really is just numbers thing at the end of the day of why HW is so weak and always has been.

.If MMA wanted HW to be good they needed to make the limit for LHW lower than 205. Boxing originally had the limit for the 2nd biggest division 30 pounds lower. So that was basically HW, LHW and MW combined into 1 division. And thats why HW boxing took off. By making the weight limit for LHW so high the unified rules made it so HW was only for the fat fighters. I guess it's understandable to want 4 seperate divisions of large fighters but in doing so it ensured HW could never be the flagship division of MMA.

Not having A athletes only makes it worse.

Heavyweights are like special needs students.

There's other expectations for them.

This is tricky discussion because some people talk about absolute level of competition and some people talk about relative level of competition.
