They got it from the 1993 film blood in blood out, during a shake down by the cops in the prison kitchen they are accusing the dude if some gang shit and he tells them " you selling wolf tickets "

Vatos Locos forever!!!

That is one epic movie. Movie tip of the day. Thank you Sir.

I'm not sure if this is supreme irony (TS selling wolf tickets by claiming X to the Z originated the phrase)

Or if he's thick as fuck

Wolf tickets has been a Cali expression before Xzibit said it lol.
I've heard Guru say it in an old Gang Starr song as well.

Thing is, it'll be difficult to trace it back to one particular person starting it.

Man.. Blood in, Blood out, old Xzibit, Tupac.... good old days mang...

Shit is so wack nowadays! 90's forever!

Let me just contribute a little:

Rule of thumb:

When you think you know the inception of a certain fad/phrase, subtract 15-20 years.

Snowboarding started in the 60's, I thought it began in the 80's.

Explain the faux-hawk then.

Wait what the hell is going on haha

I still don't get why never responded to Pac and the Outlawz. 3:40 of this song

Turn up the volume on this song as high as you can. If you listen closely, when there is that commotion in the beginning, you can hear Tupac say "Suge shot me" plain as day.

Non bullshit conspiracy shit.

It is a very old expression, going back to Alcatraz days, at least. Source, I read it in a book about the 1962 Alcatraz escape, it was a term used around that prison, and I assume many others.

^THIS

I'm pretty sure 5 year old Xzibit wasn't running around singing this song when it came out in 1980..

Been used in Harlem since the 80's at least
