Breaking Bad is not overrated. I cant say I have ever in my life met someone that didnt like BB or didnt finish the entire show.

Even my damn mom loved it

I actually never watched a single episode of BB while it was actually on. I figured I wasnt missing out on much. One day I saw the full show was on Netflix and decided to give one episode a shot.

I finished the entire fucking show in less than a week. I took personal days off from work just to keep binge watching 10+ episodes a day.

Maybe. I still think it was a good show. Was there a reason it wasn’t huge at the time it came out? Was it over shadowed by the sopranos? In regards to writing, was it regularly nominated? I’m not saying it’s the be all end all of how good a show is, but it helps.

The writing was incredible. Writing for The Wire is like cinematography for Breaking Bad.

PS - To answer your question, The Wire was nominated for two Edgar Awards and won one. Nominated for three Writers Guild of America Awards and won one, and won a Peabody Award. Was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series in 2005 and 2008.

Season 3 is the best season of The Wire according to most fans, myself included. Season 2 is generally considered the worst (I don't dislike it, but it is comparatively weaker). Considering you made it through season 1 already, I'd recommend you just skip ahead to season 3 since season 3 basically explores what was set up in season 1 but does a better job of it and there's a lot more going on. Granted, watching each season in order is ideal, but if you can't make it through season 2 then season 3 is a must watch and a great payoff for season 1. If you don't like season 3 then you just don't like The Wire, but I think it's worth giving it a try...
