The Soccer Kick

The very first example is why that ruleset would never get sanctioned in the US.

0:29 - a completely done and defenseless dude sitting with his back against the cage and his hands down getting blasted in the head with a kick.

Something about foot stumps and soccer kicks to the head that makes me cringe. I'm glad it's not part of north american mma.

To be fair, if a guy doesn't have the wherewithal to defend himself then the fight should be stopped before a soccer kick is even thrown.

That's assuming a competent ref is in there.

Bring back soccer kicks.

They look cool but yeah, too brutal for a mainstream audience.

I think as fans we are getting a little more sensitive to the health of the fighters as we learn more about concussions, the brain and seeing how guys from PRIDE are ending up.

12-6 elbows however, I think we could probably get those legalized.

Meh. Indifferent about 12-6 elbows when there are already different kinds of elbows that are effective.

Rather add soccer kicks and remove elbows on the ground.

Soccer kicks finish what was already started, elbows mostly just cut and a guy can't even defend himself while taking a brutal beating, cause he can't see. Plus, it makes the fight 'active', which gives a huge advantage to wrestlers.

I love how everyone skips ground and pound to kick a mofo in the head. It's unfortunate but true, America wouldn't allow them.

I figure, its perfectly fine to land a flying knee on someone who is ducking into it. Or to head kick someone who ducks into it. Strikes like this are perfectly legal, and far nastier/more powerful than a soccer kick.

So, allow soccer kicks and knees/kicks to ground opponents in general.

Those don't happen often and it's not like you can control someone to keep them from diving into your knee. You can not soccer kick someone in their face.

I think the majority of the fans are just overly sensitive sissies. It's a fight inside of a cage, it's no different that Jon jones elbowing people into oblivion, or when Anthony pettis kod an already limp lauzon and followed it up with 3-4 punches.

What does that have to do with soccer kicks? Nothing. Yet another fool confusing how "brutal" something looks with the damage it causes.

Knew you would be from England when I heard that tune

Creeper was big. Zinc needs to come back to the DnB scene

soccer kicks are even frowned upon in street fights (not to be confused with street brawl)

True, but the 'too brutal, too powerful' argument doesn't stand when you consider legal moves are available that are far worse.
